Today, I used first short stem of new generation short-stem hip implants in a surgery. The new generation short-stem hip implants are designed to encourage physiological-like loading to minimize stress-strain shielding and therefore implant loosening in the long term. Proximal loading short stems have been designed to improve the results of the traditional non-cemented stems. Therefore, correct positioning and good bone quality are important factors for the short stem.
