Use my secret technique to remain calm during chaos.
I get it, you’re stressed.
It’s all right. I have been there. You’re strong, stronger than you believe. Don’t let naysayers drag you down. You are doing great.
Feel better yet?
If not then don’t worry. I know exactly what you feel. The walls close in, and overthinking reaches its highest limit. The worst part is that you have no one to talk to. It’s utter chaos.?
This is why, just for you, I have created a list of exercises that have helped me tackle stress. Hope this helps you too.
And, no. This isn’t meditation. I know that it is very difficult to meditate in a fast-paced world. So don’t worry. These are actionable steps that you can do right now to calm yourself.
1) Call a timeout
This is a big one. Society pushes us to work hard, and I am also a big fan of that concept. But sometimes it just becomes too much. Every moment of rest leaves you with a feeling of guilt and shame. When you take a break, you feel like you’ve done something wrong.
Here’s the thing, there is nothing wrong with calling for a timeout.
Sometimes it’s okay to unwind and ask for some free time.
Use a timeout the next time you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed. No, taking a small break doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means that you’re a human with needs.
Just like everyone else.
Note: I kept this advice at the top as this is the first step for you to destress. Without this, you won’t be able to start the upcoming steps.
2: Breathe a little.
Got your free time? Awesome. Now is the time for you to take a moment to breathe. Focus on inhaling and exhaling. Breathe in for 5 seconds, lock for 5, and exhale for 5. Don’t worry about your posture. It doesn’t matter if you’re standing or sitting or lying.

Whether you have the time to do this exercise or not, matters. Keep breathing slowly for a couple of minutes till you feel a bit better.
3: Identify your triggers
We all get overwhelmed by a few things. For me, it is my writer taking a little too many uninformed leaves for a month. For my interns, it can be managing their time during exams. For you, it might be something else. Yes, it can also be a failed relationship or a bad personal experience. It happens. It’s normal.
And hey, it’s okay to accept that you have a stress trigger. We all do. You’re not weak. I’d go as far as to say that you are stronger than those who lack self-awareness.
4: Work on your perspective
Perspective is something that everyone understands. But rarely a few completely accept it. In the grand scheme, your problems aren’t unique or any tougher than the girl next door.
We all have the same issues, be is spiritual, emotional, or financial. 90% of people will have some level of problems.
And the weird thing is, it’s okay.
You are a unique soul in the world who has to go through your journey. You have that right and no one can take it from you.?
