Use logical replication to implement rolling version upgrades with minimal downtime(Db2 LUW)

For example, with Q-replication :

1) Configure and initiate replication in both direction on both sites

???-All clients are connected to site A

2) Plan to perform the upgrade at a time you expect to have ??relatively low activity if Possible

3) Quiesce connections on site A

4) Stop all replication after all data is captured and committed at site B; e.g. on site A issue :

??stop captureupto <timestamp-of-switch> stopafter data applied

5) Move client connections from site A to site B

6) Upgrade site A while site B continues to process transactions

7) Restart site B to site A replication

8) Repeat steps 2 - 6 with roles reversed, i.e.

??-Quiesce connections on site B

??-Stop all replication after all data is captured and committed at site A

??-Move client connections from site B to site A

??-Upgrade site B while site A continues to process transactions

9) Restart all replication
