Use Linkedin for Non Business Subjects?
Here is a screenshot of Linkedin's "About" screen. You can access it through?https://lnkd.in/eFh_rEAu.
About?#linkedin, it give the following description.
"Welcome to LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 930 million members in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide."
The Vision is described as follows.
"Create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce."
Finally the Mission statement is as below.
"The mission of LinkedIn is simple: connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful."
I have highlighted a few words which I feel are the key in the whole text. Linkedin offers a platform for subscribers to enrich their?#professional ?#knowledge ?through following?#successful ?#businessleaders in chosen & preferred industries. I say "following", not as in stalking but as in, "being in the audience", "being in the circle".

Hoping that Linkedin wouldn't object, I would say Linkedin is an enormous?#virtual ?#businessclub , where?#youngprofessionals can interact with?#senior?#professionals?and seek inspiration from their?#successstories ?and?#learn?from their experience.
Why am I writing all this? Doesn't everyone already know this? Probably not everyone.
#political ,?#nationalist,?#race ?related and?#religious ?issues only breed?#conflict ?. I am not saying these subjects need not be discussed or debated. However for ranting on topics that are not business related, we have many other?#socialmedia ?#platforms ?like?#facebook ,?#twitter ?#tiktok ?#quora ?and probably many more.
#businessideas and how a particular?#industry #operates?can have difference of opinion which encourages?#debates that result in?#greatlearning ?and?#newideas ?hatch from such discussions. This is how businesses have evolved & progressed historically.
Please keep all your non business issues away from?#linkedin ?and use this excellent tool to inspire people with your success stories, share your experience to motivate others or learn from other's success stories, enrich your professional knowledge, seek clarifications to your professional doubts. Treat Linkedin as your work place where no one likes to bring up subjects that can cause friction. Keep your catharsis for other social media channels.

1 年This is an incredibly thoughtful post that articulates the fundamental purpose of LinkedIn as a platform. I wholeheartedly agree that LinkedIn should primarily serve as a space for professional growth and collaboration. The focus should be on sharing industry knowledge, success stories, ideas, and advice, rather than a platform to discuss divisive issues. However, while I understand the sentiment behind keeping "non-business issues" off the platform, it's worth noting that some social and political issues do intersect with the professional world. Diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, labor laws, ethics in business - these are all discussions that bear relevance to our professional lives and thus have a place on LinkedIn. Your analogy of LinkedIn as a business club is apt - it is indeed a global gathering of professionals who have the opportunity to learn from one another and foster meaningful connections. I believe we can maintain the professional spirit of this platform while also fostering a culture of respect and understanding. Nonetheless, your point about keeping the discussions respectful, productive, and focused on learning and growth is well taken and we all need to remember as we use this platform.
