Use Gratitude to Counter Stress and Uncertainty
I once listened to a friend speak about the magnetic field of thought forms. I “got” the power of thought. I let go of some of my judgment about laws of attraction being for crystal-heads and kooks. I was impressed. I really got it.
Now she is speaking about vibrational medicine and the power of sound.
So, I put all this together in the stew of my mind, and really began to understand that we attract what we think, we create what we are thinking, and since COVID has been a difficult time indeed, to counteract some of this stress and negativity, I could counter stress and uncertainty with gratitude.
The author tells us that this emotion creates the benefit of dopamine and serotonin in our systems, both powerful and beneficial neurotransmitters.
So……. I took it to heart and practiced what she suggested and made a gratitude list in the morning. I found three things for which I was grateful. I contemplated and wrote down three different things each day. I was amazed at the difference in my mental state. I was amazed at the difference in my emotional state.
Anxiety and stress have been my constant buddies. I have almost worn them like emblems of knowing success. The more anxious I was, the more I told myself I was doing well.
How crazy is that?
Now, I have learned so many tools for my anxiety, from cognitive behavioral techniques, to meditation, to breathing, to mental strategies; and I am finding that I have the most success in creating a positive state in cultivating
GRATITUDE.
When I was negative and feeling depressed about my relationship, my therapist suggested to me that I do three things for my wife each day that she could not know about. Three random, very kind and positive things. If she found out I did them, I had to start over.
This wasn’t easy. I found out how much I wanted accolades, positive reinforcement, approval, love, praise.
But…as you would imagine, she got better.??
Gratitude is the antidote for stress, for lack of confidence, uncertainty,
I have sometimes asked a client to tell me what their takeaway from a session was. Was there anything for which they were grateful? (Of course, this includes constructive criticism, or so-called negative feedback as well, and then I can tell them I am grateful for their courage in expressing this to me.)
Then I make sure to list a few things about them for which I am grateful. I am surprised how easy these things are to find, even if this person is a new client.
I can always find some ways they improved, even within the limited timeframe of a first session.
The author suggests creating a ritual of gratitude by ending each virtual meeting or in-person session with a gratitude minute. This is a great idea. I’m going to try it.
To set my energy field into an “attractor pattern” of gratitude, knowing, as they say, that water attracts its own level, is a powerful tool for attracting the clientele I want to attract, know the people with whom I want to socialize, and simply be the person my family wants to be around. All this spins around gratitude.
I have been told to always act better than I feel. Well, gratitude gets me there like nothing else.
What about you? Any tools you can share? I would be grateful.??

2 年Nice article, Craig.
I have been following Mary Morrisey in her Brave Thinking Masters program for several years now. She introduced this plus a ton of other tools. I am in a master mind group that meets weekly to keep us on track. That helps a lot..nice article....We all engage when we remember the Pause button and find the good in every situation and have faith we have the answer somewhere.. via ourselves or via our peers..
