Second is it's still unclear how Google will prioritize ads on SGE SERPs relative to regular search results, or whether there will be an opt-out feature available so users don't see ads appearing there.

SGE may not yet be accessible to all users and requires the Add to Sheets feature in Search Labs to use it. Google indicates that adding this feature won't alter how SGE utilizes your data; it simply requires agreeing to their privacy policy.
