Use Future Histories to Organize and Measure Your Most Audacious Goals (Video)

Here's the video of a talk I gave on how to use ambitious, unambiguous and time-bound "future histories" to rally support and "organize and measure" action on climate change, EV adoption and other complex, multi-dimensional challenges.
The takeaway: Whether you are in the private or public sector, examine how your purpose, mission and strategies can best support our existential need to get to net-zero by 2050. So, what can you do today to get to where we need to be tomorrow?
This is a challenge, as President Kennedy said about going to the moon, that we must “be willing to accept, unwilling to postpone and intend to succeed.”

The talk is adapted from my recent article, "What the First Moonshot Teaches Us About Even Harder Moonshots" and my book, "A Brief History of a Perfect Future," coauthored with Paul B. Carroll and Tim Andrews. The video was made in collaboration with the Civilian Services Group at Booz Allen Hamilton for that firm's work with federal agencies but is broadly applicable to all public and private sector organizations.
I invite you to share with those in your network who believe we need to make more rapid progress on climate change and other complex challenges.

2 年Love this take on "future histories". We all know the saying "The best way to predict the future is to create it." but thinking of it as a "history" already definitely cements it as something that has already happened that much more. It just makes it feel that much more intentional in setting a specific course of action. That's the main thing I really enjoy about this way of thinking!

3 年Part of the problem may be that we're likely to have scarce rare minerals to mass produce EVs on a global scale like existing autos.
