To Use or Not To Use ChatGPT?

To Use or Not To Use ChatGPT?

Introduction

Recently a connection from LinkedIn contacting me via DM (Direct Message) to say that his tool detected that my article was most likely to be written by an AI (Artificial intelligence). He wrote that he thought that I would like to know that such tools exists and that himself, with his expertise could even spot it out without a tool. He is personally convinced that it is not going to take long before LinkedIn would ban such content from its feed. While I said thank you to him at the first place, it is time for me to put the elephant on the table: Why should I not use AI and how do I use it?

Before ChatGPT and other AI apps

In the past years, my process to write and publish an article or newsletter on LinkedIn was the following:

1.????Select the trending topic which I want to talk about and share with my network.

2.????Do some extensive research about the topic on Google.

3.????Read a lot of material about the topic, sometimes good material, sometimes just a waste of time because of the quality of some links and their content.

4.????Write the article usually in Microsoft Words for better editing and overview in my own words and thoughts keeping in mind that I am not a native English-speaking person.

5.????Select the most appropriate title in my own.

6.????Prepare the article to be posted in LinkedIn using mainly copy/paste from Word to LinkedIn.

7.????Post the article adding my own words to promote it in my network.

?Average time required for such a post: 2-3 hours

After the release of ChatGPT

Now with ChatGPT the process becomes radically different and more efficient:

1.????Select the trending topic which I want to talk about and share with my network

2.????Ask ChatGPT to propose the best structure for that topic

3.????Ask ChatGPT to provide the content based on the structure and chapter suggested.

4.????Verify the content like references to examples, etc…

5.????Add my own and personal thoughts to the topics.

6.????Ask ChatGPT to rewrite the whole article including my personal tweaks.

7.????Prepare the article to be posted directly in LinkedIn using mainly copy/paste from ChatGPT.

8.????Ask ChatGPT to suggest the best and catchy title.

9.????Post the article asking ChatGPT for the best proposal to promote it in my network including emoticons and hashtags.

Average time required for such a post: 1 hour vs 2-3 hours before!

Conclusion

For me personally there is clearly a before and an after ChatGPT and I tell you that from my time management, productivity, and quality of content that I can deliver today, I clearly moved into the after ChatGPT phase and try to embrace it as much as possible.

?Generative AI solutions like ChatGPT are mainly tools that have a tremendous potential to improve our productivity, efficiency and reduce bureaucracy and other inefficiencies in our daily work and private life.

?Not using it is your own choice but not mine!

PS: this is an article written without ChatGPT at all and below is the revised version with the help of ChatGPT. I let you judge which one is better by yourself...

Leveraging AI for Editorial Success: The Power of ChatGPT

Introduction

An interesting revelation recently came my way via LinkedIn's Direct Messaging. A fellow professional reached out to highlight his suspicion that my article had likely been penned by an Artificial Intelligence tool. He was keen to inform me about the increasing sophistication of AI detection tools and how, with his expertise, he could potentially identify AI-generated content even without these tools. He further conjectured that LinkedIn might soon ban AI-crafted content. I responded politely, but this encounter sparked a thought-provoking question: Why should or shouldn't I use AI, and how do I effectively integrate it into my workflow?

Life Before ChatGPT

In the past, my methodology for crafting and publishing LinkedIn articles or newsletters was rather traditional:

  1. Identify a trending topic that resonates with my network.
  2. Conduct extensive research on Google to gather insights.
  3. Sift through a plethora of resources, some valuable, others not so much.
  4. Pen the article in Microsoft Word, striving to express my thoughts despite not being a native English speaker.
  5. Devise a compelling title.
  6. Prepare the article for LinkedIn, mainly using copy/paste.
  7. Share the article and promote it within my network.

This entire process typically consumed 2-3 hours of my time.

The Game-Changer: ChatGPT

With the introduction of ChatGPT, the procedure underwent a transformative shift, becoming more streamlined and efficient:

  1. Choose a trending topic that aligns with my network's interests.
  2. Utilize ChatGPT to propose a logical structure for the topic.
  3. Request ChatGPT to generate content based on the suggested structure.
  4. Review the content, ensuring the references and examples are accurate.
  5. Inject my personal perspectives and thoughts into the piece.
  6. Engage ChatGPT to refine the article, incorporating my tweaks.
  7. Prepare the article for LinkedIn, primarily using copy/paste from ChatGPT.
  8. Seek ChatGPT's assistance in crafting a catchy title.
  9. Share the article, using ChatGPT-generated suggestions for effective promotion, inclusive of emojis and hashtags.

This new-age process shaves my time investment down to just an hour, a significant reduction from the previous 2-3 hours!

Conclusion

For me, there's a stark contrast between the pre and post-ChatGPT era. The AI tool has unquestionably revolutionized my time management, productivity, and content quality. Hence, I'm more than eager to harness its potential to the fullest.

Generative AI solutions like ChatGPT serve as powerful productivity enhancers, minimizing inefficiencies and bureaucracies in our work and personal lives.

To use or not to use AI - the choice is yours. For me, the answer is a resounding yes!

Interestingly I liked parts of the article best from you, others from AI: I guess a mix of both is my final answer! : ). Also found funny that AI promoted AI more strongly than you did: I guess machines and humans are always better served by themselves!! ?? Thank you Philippe GERWILL : very much enjoyed the read and transparency.

Great slave, bad master Philippe GERWILL i like your version much better as it has a human touch, who is using words like "plethora" unless he studied at Eaton and can fart the British anthem back and forth ??
