The Use of Chatbots in Customer Service and Marketing

In today's fast-paced technological advancement, chatbots are becoming a convenient tool in customer service and marketing. These intelligent computer programs can simulate human conversation based on the provided data. Isn't this just another wonder of technology??

Do you know that global chatbot marketing revenue reached $83.4 million this year? The immense growth is a reflection of these chatbots' unique features in customer service and marketing. These bots can provide assistance to customers quickly and efficiently.?

But despite their many benefits, there still needs to be something added to this technological invention. What's that? Chatbots certainly is a powerful tool for efficiency, but still, they lack the human touch that is necessary to provide an excellent customer experience.?

Because a bot can never replace human warmth and emotions.

So, why not pen down something I have been experiencing for a while? Let's dive deep into why the human touch is crucial in conversations with clients and how we can integrate chatbots and humans in combination to enhance customer service and marketing efforts.

Why is Human Touch Touchy?

Let's get into the conversation of exploring why the human touch is essential in customer service and marketing.?

When we interact with others, whether in-person or online, we rely on nonverbal cues such as facial expressions, voice characteristics, prosody, and body language. These cues help us understand the other person's emotions and intentions.?

Without these non-verbal or visual cues, we won't be able to overcome the emotional gap. It allows us to empathize with others and build trust, which is crucial in any relationship.?

But what does it have to do with customer service and marketing??

In customer service and marketing, this human touch is essential in creating a positive customer experience and building long-term client relationships.

Nobody would appreciate talking to a machine in frustration.?

Let's take a lucid example of this;

Imagine you have a problem with a product you purchased, such as a fault, wrong delivery, post-purchase dissatisfaction, etc. You step forward to contact the customer service department for assistance.?

Already being annoyed, and the last thing you want is to talk to a machine that doesn't understand your emotions or sentiments with the purchase. It is clueless about how you feel and what were expectations from the purchase.?

A chatbot may be able to provide you with the information you need, but it can't empathize with your situation or offer emotional support. Whereas a human agent who can gauge the emotions the other person is going through can listen to your concerns, validate your feelings, and offer personalized solutions to the problem.?

This kind of human touch can turn a negative experience into a positive one which a chatbot can not. It can build a loyal customer base that trusts and values your brand.

However, we can still use chatbots in combination with human agents to maximize customer satisfaction and seamless experience. You can make chatbot feasible by programming natural language processing (NLP) and sentiment analysis to understand the emotional state of the customer and respond appropriately.?

Nisha Meng Ming Li That's very true. An annoyed customer yearns for the human touch. A conversation. Empathy and understanding. A Bot might destroy the last bit of customer loyalty by just trying to help in a logical manner. But then, this is just the beginning.... Wait until a fews years time.... Maybe we get a bot who feels?

We can't overlook the efficient and productive use of Al but it definitely needs a skilled operator to extract the best out of it. Undoubtedly, a human touch can never be compensated.
