Use All Your Strength: Teamwork - Un-cliched For You

Use All Your Strength: Teamwork - Un-cliched For You

Teamwork is such an overused and cliched topic. So, what does it mean to work in a team? How can you capitalise on the strength of your team to add magic and that 'zing' to your projects??

Here is a story that beautifully illustrates this idea and puts a little practical understanding to the concept.

Once, while walking in the forest, a little girl spotted a large log on the ground. Curious, she asked her father if she would be able to move it. Her father replied, "Yes, you can. Use all your strength."?Excited by the challenge, the little girl tried to move the log with all her might, failing to do so. Not wanting to let down her father's faith in her, she tried over and over again. But she couldn't move the log.?

Frustrated, she turned to her father and said, "You lied to me. You said I could move the log, but I can't." The father asked her, "Did you use all your strength?" The little girl said, "Yes, I did. I used all my strength; you saw me struggle, get hurt, and then give up." The father replied, "No, you did not use all your strength. I stood right here the whole time, but you didn't use me to move the log. My presence in your life is your strength. Why would you not use me when you need it?"

A team is created with strong and able individuals coming together for a larger purpose, one that they will accomplish 'together'. So relying on and capitalising on each other's strengths is not just a smart thing to do but also the right thing to do. That is why you have been put in a team - to work together on each other's points of power. You wouldn't be called into an organisation if you were meant to work alone.

The call for power intervention is sometimes in the frame of asking for help - do it. It doesn't make you small, but it sure can save the project. Oftentimes, we need to ask for help, rely on others, or tap into different resources to make something happen. It is good for you, and it is good for the project at hand.

In conclusion, the story of the little girl reminds us to use all our strength to achieve our goals. We have our unique strengths, but sometimes that may not be enough to get the job done. As a habit, we must also tap into the strengths of others - it is a great empowerment tool to learn, to grow, and to become better.?

I'm happy to add value to your purpose. More power to you!
