U.S. Starts 6G Wireless Communications Planning

Washington: The US government is planning to employ 6G networks in the future, seeking to gain a technological advantage in the face of Beijing's rapid progress in the telecoms sector.

On Friday, senior US officials confirmed to various news sites that the White House met with corporate leaders, technological officials, and academic specialists to create plans for impending 6G networks.

According to one government official, the administration intends to "take the lessons learned from 5G about the importance of early involvement and resilience" and apply them to the development of a 6G network that "optimises performance, accessibility, and security."

Although 6G technology is still in its infancy and won't likely be used by the general public for several years, it is anticipated to be far quicker than the existing 5G networks and to considerably increase high-speed internet access worldwide, according to RT.

China successfully launched an experimental satellite in late 2020 that contained potential 6G technology candidates in an effort to test the performance of the 6G frequency spectrum in space.

According to RT, another administration source cited China's technological advancements in recent years, particularly the launch of its own 5G network, and claimed that Beijing had utilised the technology to promote national security objectives and increase its market dominance in the global telecoms sector.
