As the U.S. revealed 39,327 new coronavirus diseases on Thursday, setting another single-day record, a few governors declared that their states will delay reopening plans. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Florida ended energy toward coming back to pre-pandemic business operations, referring to upticks in new cases all through June.

Texas alone revealed a record 5,996 new coronavirus cases and it’s rolling average has expanded by 340 percent since Memorial Day. The loss of life across the country also expanded by around 2,500.

Texas has also set record hospitalizations for 13 days straight. Abbott (Governor of Texas) has suspended elective medical procedures in the Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio territories to let lose emergency clinic bed space.

Texas’ rising numbers are a piece of an across the national resurgence in states that were saved the brunt of the underlying flare-up or moved ahead of schedule to lift limitations on occupants and organizations.

Also reporting record rises in cases this week were Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Wyoming.

While some of the increased numbers of cases can be attributed to more testing, the percentage of positive results is also climbing.

The Trump administration has tried to soften nationwide concerns about the pandemic even as a dozen or so states see worrisome increases.

“We’re working aggressively with states and local leaders in this situation but it’s important for the American people to know this is a localized situation,” US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar told Fox News. “The counties that are in hotspots are three percent of American counties.”

Government experts believe more than 20 million Americans could have contracted the coronavirus, 10 times more than official counts, indicating many people without symptoms have or have had the disease.

“Our best estimate right now is that for every case that’s reported, there are 10 other infections,” Robert Redfield, who heads the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told reporters.

The center of the epidemic has relocated to the US west and south, including more sparsely populated rural areas, from the early epicenter around New York. In California, Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, declared a budget emergency due to the pandemic.

Almost 5350 people there tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, fewer than Wednesday’s record of 7149. But the number of Californians becoming very ill continued to rise, using about 34 percent of the available intensive care beds in the state, up from 29 percent on Wednesday.

The pandemic is getting worse globally, with the number of infections expected to reach 10 million next week, World Health Organization (WHO) head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said.

More than 9.6 million people around the world have been diagnosed with COVID-19, while nearly 4.8 million have recovered, and more than 489,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
