It has been reported that in #Manipur India, the Hindu majority Meitei community persecute ?the tribal Christian Kuki minority with the imprimatur of the police and the local authorities who are part of Modi’s BJP party…. Open Doors USA, which monitors persecution in over 60 countries,?ranks ?India as the 10th worst country for Christian persecution.
In the light of appalling genocide of Christians in Northern India, the US may have no choice but to designate India as a CPC and start to place sanctions on India.
The US International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 requires the #CPC designations to prioritize "policy options designed to bring about a cessation of the particularly severe violations of religious freedom." Countries subject to the State Department's "CPC" designation may face negative consequences, including the possibility of crippling sanctions.?

According to CNN, Manipur is a state in the northeast of India that has experienced violent clashes between the Hindu majority Meitei community and the Christian minority Kuki tribe. The violence has resulted in the destruction of churches, the killing of Christians, and the displacement of thousands of people. CNN has also criticized the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their silence and inaction on the issue.
“The violent acts against the Christian community and Muslim community or any other minority group are in complete violation of the law of the land and the Indian Constitution.” See US government Report
The European Parliament accused India’s Hindu-led BJP government and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fuelling the violence by pursuing “politically motivated, divisive policies promoting Hindu majoritarianism.” Modi, whose party controls Manipur’s state government, faced a no-confidence motion in Parliament for his silence on the escalating violence. The reports also indicate that the violence has a religious dimension, as Hindu mobs have specifically targeted Christian churches and believers. The BJP government supports the attackers financially and ignores the plight of the beleaguered Christians. It has been widely reported that the violence in Manipur is just a part of a larger pattern of persecution against Christians and other minorities in India by Hindu extremists.
The reports estimate that more than 50 churches have been destroyed or burned down, and more than 50 Christians have been killed in Manipur since May 2023. Thousands of Christians have fled their homes and businesses, seeking refuge in safer areas or neighbouring states. Church leaders have appealed to the federal government and the international community for help and intervention to stop the violence and restore peace in Manipur but that is falling on deaf ears.
#Modi is doing nothing because his political base is implicated in the violence and persecution of minorities.
?There are several press reports of Christian persecution in Manipur, India, in 2023. These reports describe the violent clashes between the Hindu majority Meitei community and the Christian minority Kuki tribe, which resulted in the destruction of churches, the killing of Christians, and the displacement of thousands of people. The reports also highlight the political and religious factors that contributed to the escalation of the conflict, such as the Meitei’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status, the eviction of Kuki people from their ancestral lands, and the Hindu nationalist agenda of the central and state governments.Indian Christians are being persecuted as never before

Apoorvanand, who teaches Hindi literature at Delhi University and regularly writes against religious violence in India, said
the “normalisation of anti-Christian violence is deeply troubling”.
“This doesn’t get reported as much as it should be,” he said.
“By choosing a different target (apart from Muslims) for a supposedly different crime, the ‘Hindutva’ (Hindu supremacist) project in India is adding diversity and objectivity to its anti-minority hatred. To the followers, this makes anti-minority hate and vigilante justice look rational and more natural.”
