The U.S. Department of Labor re-certifies Persistent Systems as a 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipient

Company receives Hire Vets Platinum Award for second consecutive year

NEW YORK, New York. – October 31st, 2024 – Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”), a leader in mobile ad hoc network (MANET) technology, announced today that the U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su has recognized Persistent with the Platinum 2024 HIRE Vets Award for the second consecutive year. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program recognizing employers who excel in recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans.

“We are grateful to be once again recertified as a veteran-friendly employer of choice,” said George Kythreotis, Persistent’s Director of Human Resources. “This is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the growth of our veteran community and desire to help veterans successfully transition into the industry.”

With veterans comprising 34% of the company’s workforce, including 17 veteran hires so far in 2024, Persistent ensures that veterans have access to the same growth opportunities as non-veteran team members. Veterans also receive education on career pathways and guidance on navigating the company’s structure to achieve long-term success.

“At Persistent, veteran team members find themselves deeply connected with our company’s mission of ‘networking the battlefield.’ Knowing first-hand the challenges their brothers and sisters in arms experience has driven their passion for enhancing our technology,” said Kythreotis. “Anytime they speak about the technology, their excitement resonates throughout the room.”

This sense of camaraderie extends to the broader veteran community beyond the company. In April, Persistent hosted The Honor Foundation, a career transition program for U.S. Special Operations Forces, at its New York City headquarters. The company also participates in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Internship Program, offering active-duty service members hands-on commercial work experience during their last 180 days of service.

“As an Army veteran, I am privileged to continue to serve as an executive leader at Persistent Systems,” said Brian ‘BR’ Mcdonald, Senior Vice President of Field Technical Services & Support. “As I approach ten years in the company, I have seen the incredible character, work ethic, and skill set each transitioning veteran brings to our mission. As we move on from our time in service, it’s important to find a place that values community, purpose, and professional growth.”

With plans to hire more veterans in 2025, Persistent is proud to be one of 838 companies recognized for its commitment to veteran hiring and their post-service excellence.

As a new employee of Persistent Systems, and old veteran, I can tell you this recognition of the company is well deserved. Having worked for other companies that hire veterans, Persistent is different: They really care about the Vet Community and want to ensure our success!
