US Customs Announces New Due Diligence Tools for Importers
Every company that imports products into the U.S. is expected to exercise due diligence and reasonable care regarding their import shipments. Whether your company imports thousands of shipments every year, or just one shipment now and then, US Customs (CBP) expects every importer to ensure their imports are in compliance with all US laws, rules and regulations. Penalties are severe for violations and ignorance of the law is no excuse.
CBP recently added a new compliance tool that importers should use to help them ensure compliance with trade rules and regulations. The new "dashboards" can be found HERE, and I would encourage every importer to visit these dashboards to better understand trade violations and CBP enforcement actions.
