?Dear Secretary,
?I am writing to propose a joint US-Brazil Green-tech Innovation Consortium and Institute be located in Sao Paulo
Our two countries have enjoyed a long history of commercial and scientific relationships. One of the Earth’s most priceless resources, the Amazon rainforest, is endangered due to illegal mining, deforestation, fire, and other careless practices. Its environmental integrity is essential for hemispheric and global food security, biodiversity, and population stability.
?
It is our responsibility as human beings to ensure the preservation of this precious gift—for ourselves and our children, as well as for the thousands of other species that call this planet home. Now is the time to act in a mutually beneficial way to stave off the dangers of the Amazon’s collapse, and to develop sustainable technologies that can be deployed throughout the three Americas.
?
An international green technology hub in Brazil will help preserve the Amazon and the rest of the Americas’ natural resources. It will bring together US and Brazilian universities, private and public R&D organizations, businesses, environmental protectors, and capital providers.
?
It would assemble the best “green brains” in the world, fertilize, and grow bio-innovation and technology.
?
The center will encourage eco-friendly business partnerships and green trade. The great minds there will develop sustainable practices and technologies that work in developing countries. They will find ways to mine and develop resources and produce needed products while preserving ecosystems; they will enhance cooperation between agribusiness and organic producers, and they will conceive of ways to increase popular motivation to reduce their impact on the environment.

Research and development in sustainable technologies and practices in universities, research institutes, and businesses are widely dispersed in the United States. Brazil, in contrast, has fewer such institutions, they are smaller, and they are not as well-funded as in the US. Locating the center in Brazil will stimulate the further growth of sustainability research and development there, leading to expanded academic and business collaborations between the two countries.
?
The moment is ripe for constructive action and innovation. Together we can deliver a new modern tool to preserve Nature and ? the environment to future generations
?
The door of creativity is open between us, I am ready to make this vision a blessed reality between the three Americas.?
