U.S. Is Being Held Hostage

The U.S. is being held hostage by power-hungry ideologues; our country is caught between the anvil and the hammer. We are stuck in the middle of an unstoppable force and an immovable object. The hypocrisy of both governing parties is becoming more apparent with each new election. One party professes "less government" while practicing politics that concentrates control and protection of the privileged few while the other labels itself "progressive" but continues to back down from and avoids courageous initiatives to better the lives of its broad base. The unsavory part of a democratic republic is political compromise. When one party chooses not to compromise and fails to seriously address pending issues in good trust, government fails its purpose and separates itself from those of its constituents. When one party denigrates the other for doing what itself is doing, it undermines a foundation of serving in good faith. When one entity places party allegiance above the betterment of the country, it fosters tribal warfare with the belief that only one can survive and the other must be destroyed, whatever the cost.
