US Airlines vs Federal Government

Today marks a first of many situations to come in which US Airlines, pressured to assure its customers a safe health standard on their flights, have begun to tighten regulations requiring all passengers to wear face masks. A passenger was taken off a flight today for refusing to wear a mask. As this is my second article on this topic; I will once again say that Airlines can not be left alone without a united standard led by the Federal government. How long do we wait for a common standard across all US airlines regarding this critical situation ? Covid-19 in the US has crept back into our lives with high elevations of cases in at least 22 states. We are clear that our society is tired of lock downs and restrictions but at the same time we have left our guard down as we open our environments with a relaxed sensation that it will go away. Something far from the truth. Not to mention the potential second wave that so many experts have warned us about. Whilst the Airlines and Airports do their best in defining their own standards to keep us safe and we wait for a Federal response; if one is to come, the least we can do as responsible customers is to use face masks to protect each other on flights.

4 年Great article Jorge, the situation is very similar here in Europe, exacerbated by differing quarantine requirements too. IATA and ICAO have recently released guidelines for the industry to restart but I am not sure how widely they have been adopted. 4 年Excellent, Jorge. I fully agree; standard needed here.
