Urgent: Merchants Using Stripe to Process Payments


As an advocate for justice and transparency, I feel it is my duty to inform fellow business owners and merchants using the STRIPE platform of a critical security issue. It appears that STRIPE’s system has been compromised, and unauthorized charges are being sent from the platform to consumer databases associated with merchant accounts.


Despite the gravity of the situation, STRIPE has not yet made a public announcement regarding this breach. I have personally attempted to reach the company for an explanation, but STRIPE has removed direct contact numbers from their website, making it nearly impossible for merchants to communicate with them. Their current system only connects users to a call center that has been unresponsive to concerns.


We have firsthand evidence of this breach, with over $20,000 in unauthorized invoices and debits being charged to our former and current clients through our STRIPE account. The hackers have locked us out of our account, and our clients have been sending us copies of these unauthorized charges all morning.


This issue has been ongoing since 3:00 AM EDT on September 26, 2024. It is imperative that all merchants using STRIPE take immediate action. I strongly advise shutting down your STRIPE account until further notice to prevent further unauthorized transactions. We hope that STRIPE will address this issue promptly and provide merchants with the support and transparency needed to resolve this matter.


Please share this message with other STRIPE users to ensure that we protect ourselves and our clients from further fraudulent activity.

This has been one of the most challenging experiences I’ve encountered. Over a week ago, I discovered someone had hacked my Stripe account, and despite my efforts, I’ve made little progress. Each Monday, I receive calls with the same set of questions, yet nothing seems to move forward. The representative I spoke with seems disconnected from the admin side of things and hasn’t been helpful in resolving the issue. Even after reaching out to several higher-ups at Stripe, the situation remains unresolved. John Paul Marston

Trish Walsh Robert Clarkson Robert McIntosh Jeff Titterton Monsif Marc John Collison I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the recent security breach and unauthorized charges on our Stripe account, which have not only compromised our company’s finances but also placed undue charges on our clients’ accounts. We believe our account was either hacked or otherwise compromised, resulting in excessive unauthorized transactions, which have caused significant distress to our business and customers. Stripe For the past 14 hours, my team and I have made every effort to contact Stripe through all available channels to resolve this issue. Despite our repeated attempts, including calls to your call center and messages sent via Stripe Support, we have not received any assistance or acknowledgment of this critical issue. The call center representatives informed us that they were unable to help.... This lack of response is deeply concerning, especially given the severity of this matter. We rely on Stripe’s platform to conduct business securely, and this breach of security has put our reputation and client trust at serious risk.
