Urgent Crisis in Kakuma Refugee Camp

Urgent Crisis in Kakuma Refugee Camp

Yesterday, I received a distressing message from a friend in Kakuma Refugee Camp. He and his family, along with many other refugees, had to flee their homes in the camp due to a sudden outbreak of violence between two ethnic groups.

They are now seeking refuge at a local police station, but even there, safety is not promised. The fear he had for his and other families was heartbreaking. He spoke of friends who have been killed or severely injured and is now fearing for their lives.

What's happening?

The Kakuma RefugeThe conflict began between different ethnic groups, and the situation has quickly escalated. Innocent people are now caught in the crossfire, and the violence shows no signs of stopping.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, there has been little to no news coverage about whats going on.

Intervention

Local authorities have introduced a curfew in an attempt to control the violence, but this is not enough and will have little impact. What they need is immediate intervention from the Kenyan government and international organisations to protect these vulnerable people! The camp, which was meant to be a safe place for thousands of displaced people, has turned into a place of fear and danger.

What can you do

It's so upsetting to think what these people have been through already that led to them ending up in a refugee camp. Now they are facing even more terror and continue to fear for their lifes!

We must share and spread awareness of what is going on at Kakuma Refugee Camp.

I urge you to share this message with as many people as possible.

The voices of those trapped in the camp need to be heard.

Please join me in calling for urgent action to protect the refugees in Kakuma. They need our support now more than ever!!!!

Distressing to hear this conflict is still on-going. My heart goes out to this inspiring and determined community.
