Urgent Call for Clean Water, Food, and Hope for Orphans and Villagers in Crisis

Today, I write with a plea that cannot wait -- a call to help a community in Kenya that is teetering on the edge of survival. In a small village recently struck by floods, Pastor Edwin Okendake and his congregation are facing crises that would challenge even the strongest among us. This community, where he also cares for 40 orphans, now struggles daily to access essentials most of us take for granted: clean water, food, and basic health resources.?

The Crisis: Preventable Waterborne Diseases and Flood-Induced Hunger

Waterborne diseases -- cholera, typhoid, parasitic infections -- are stealing lives in Edwin’s village and countless others across Kenya. The contaminated water sources in this region make daily survival an uphill battle, especially for vulnerable children. These preventable diseases claim thousands of lives each year, particularly the lives of young children, erasing futures and dreams.

Additionally, floods decimated crops the people rely on, sparking an urgent food crisis. Edwin, tirelessly serving as a spiritual and practical support, now finds himself unable to meet the most immediate needs of his community alone. His faith and commitment have sustained his village through countless hardships, but he cannot face this alone. He needs us. They need us.

Here’s How We Can Make a Difference Right Now:

1. Build a Well: A reliable source of clean water would prevent the devastating cycle of waterborne diseases. Constructing a well is the first, crucial step to ensuring the health and dignity of everyone in the village. The cost for the well is $50,000. It seems impossible, but together, we can do this.

2. Provide Uzima Water Filters: These life-saving filters can offer clean drinking water immediately, significantly reducing the risk of disease. Working with Uzima, we have a direct path to supply these critical filters to families and orphans alike.

3. Deliver Feminine Hygiene Products: Dignity for women and girls begins with access to basic feminine hygiene products, which are sorely lacking in this community. Supplying these essentials restores self-respect and health.

4. Emergency Food Relief: With all crops destroyed by floods, the village is in dire need of food aid to prevent hunger and malnutrition, especially among the children and orphans.

How You Can Help

This is where I invite you to make an immediate impact. Every dollar counts. A small contribution could provide clean water, a meal, or a bit of dignity for those who currently live without it. We need compassionate hearts, financial support, and connections to reach the resources that will transform lives.

You can donate directly through [this PayPal link](https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=LS2GWC3AM6J9N), knowing your support will go toward these urgent needs. And if you or your company is interested in partnering on a larger scale, your contribution could change the trajectory of this village’s future.

Stand with Us for Kenya

In my work, I’ve seen the incredible impact of community. I’ve witnessed the power of compassionate action. Together, we have a chance to not only meet basic needs but to restore health, dignity, and hope. As I establish a 501(c)(3) organization to provide ongoing aid to Pastor Edwin’s community and others like it, I know that together we can make a lasting difference.?

This is a moment for each of us to stand on the right side of history, to turn compassion into action. Let’s be the lifeline for a community that deserves the right to health, safety, and a future.?

If you’d like to discuss more ways to support, feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for standing with us -- and for being a light in this world.?

With hope and gratitude,

Bryan-David Scott

About Uzima Water Filters: A Lifesaving Partnership for Clean Water

In partnership with Uzima Water Filters and its founder, Bill Coble, we are bringing life-saving clean water to communities in urgent need, like the one Pastor Edwin Okendake serves in Kenya. Bill and his team are committed to not only developing but personally delivering effective water filtration systems to those in rural and underserved regions.

The Uzima UZ-2, the best water filtration system for Kenya according to Bill,, is designed to provide safe, clean water quickly, reliably, and affordably. This complete filtration system combines the powerful UZ-1 filter with ready-to-use water containers, enabling communities to filter water in minutes. With its Hollow Fiber Membrane technology -- the same used in kidney dialysis -- the UZ-2 removes over 99.99997% of the bacteria responsible for waterborne diseases. Easy to maintain through simple back-flushing, this durable filter requires no electricity, has no consumables or replacement parts, and operates for up to ten years without additional costs. Each UZ-2 filter is built to endure and empower, ready to bring safe water wherever it’s needed.

For Uzima, clean water is only the beginning. The Swahili word "Uzima" means "to be filled and overflowing with life," a concept that extends beyond water to the hope and dignity they aim to restore in each community they serve. The Uzima Water Filters team has expanded from Kenya to a global outreach, working alongside NGOs, nonprofits, and governments to deliver water solutions worldwide.

Every Uzima filter deployed in Kenya through our initiative brings the promise of health, opportunity, and resilience to Pastor Edwin’s community and others like it. Our mission is a shared one with Uzima -- to ensure that no one is left to suffer the effects of contaminated water.?
