Ian Markos, Stefan Knoll, David Speirs, Rob Lucas, Stephen Marshall - Red Tape generally & specifically 'Local Councils' and building approval process! Please act urgently!
Building industry approvals down – this could read as if things are quiet in Adelaide – just release 20% of approvals waiting somewhere in the snail like approvals process (that are going to be approved anyway) and look at the gear change up! Immediate growth, not enough tradies, new apprentices required! Surge in cash flow, companies given financial relief, creditors paid. Too much waiting around for ‘rubber stamp’ at next council meeting. Decided conflict of interest here – my application waiting, waiting, waiting!
This is not about no standards but effective use and extension of delegated authority and a client focused perspective. Act now and swiftly before another half dozed builders ‘go through’ and dozens more tradies / suppliers go broke. Liberal Governments can make things happen!

5 年OK chaps, agreed. but talking of band aids, faster more efficient approvals process would certainly help everyone - yes! not really a bandaid, a necessity of any business.? my experience, sounds like yours also Mark. Too ofter people just don't want to address their problems - too scared to or just not able to balance liabilities to income and so hard to stop the cart half way down the hill once?the momentum is up!

5 年Agreed but it is just a band aid, a lot of these failed builders have been in trouble for a long time, I had a once off meeting with a recently failed builder 2 years ago? and they were in financial trouble then, how they managed to survive for another 2 years surprised me but based on released information during these 2 years their financial position went backwoods by another $600,000. Going under is no difference to any other industry which also has flow on affects, to me its more a question of how do we get good financial knowledge and skills to the business owner so that they understand this better ie pricing etc to allow for overheads.
