Abstract

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump underscores the dangers of primitive and divisive political leadership, which fuels hatred and polarization. This article argues that incompetent political leadership poses significant global risks. Drawing on insights from the Leadership Competency Model Drenica (2020 and 2024), validated through neuroscientific research, we advocate for a paradigm shift towards Neuroleadership. This approach leverages neuroscience to develop effective leadership behaviors crucial for navigating complex challenges and fostering inclusive and innovative societies.

Methods

This study utilized a literature review approach to explore the neuroscientific underpinnings of leadership competencies outlined in the Drenica model. It synthesized findings from neuroscience studies to elucidate the neural mechanisms associated with decision-making, communication, collaboration, and other competencies critical for effective leadership.

Results

Neuroscientific research validates the Leadership Competency Model Drenica by linking specific brain circuits and neurotransmitter systems to leadership behaviors. Key findings include the role of the prefrontal cortex in decision-making, neural circuits in communication and empathy, and neurotransmitters such as dopamine and oxytocin influencing leadership effectiveness across various domains.

Discussion

The integration of neuroscience into leadership studies offers profound implications for understanding and developing effective leadership. By grounding leadership competencies in neuroscientific principles, organizations can tailor leadership development programs to enhance organizational outcomes and cultivate a culture of innovation and inclusivity.

Conclusion

The current political landscape highlights the critical need for a new paradigm in leadership—one that embraces Neuroleadership. The Drenica model provides a robust framework, supported by neuroscientific evidence, for cultivating competent leaders capable of navigating complex global challenges. By advancing Neuroleadership, we can mitigate the risks posed by primitive political leadership, promoting a more harmonious and progressive world.

This article underscores the urgency of adopting a modern leadership paradigm based on neuroscience, emphasizing its potential to transform global governance and promote sustainable development.
