With growing technological advancements in the corporate sector, where IOT, AI, BI, Automation is changing the way we do things, companies are fighting neck to neck to keep themselves ahead in the industry. It is a "do or die" scenario for them. Urgency seems to be on the cards. Each one wants to be a prime mover and decision makers are up for challenges. The question now is - Are they ready to decentralize the decision making or the norm of the game is still age old?
Companies want to change the way they do business, but they want different results with the same old way of working. Reorganization happens so often in the corporate sector but is that reorganization changing their outlook?
The wave has already started where some companies have taken the leap. They want to take quick decisions and bring rapid changes by thinking beyond the four walls. They are keeping in mind the viewpoint of their employees, the societal expectations and the demands of the end consumer. The trend has now moved from fully approved decision-making to a quick and smart decision making on an urgent need basis. Centralized decision- making has led to delay in executing important decisions therefore, decentralization of authority and decision-making has proven quite effective. It may have yielded unfulfilling results but not something that could cost companies a fortune. Companies cannot afford to stay behind in this competitive digital world because being in the league is more important than being laggards.
It has been an age-old topic of debate, what to centralize and what not and companies are still struggling to find the right answers. Have you been caught in a predicament where a sales call is made to you and you are fully convinced about the opportunity, yet could not take a decision? Not because you are incapable or not eligible but because you do not have the power to decide. Well, if this has been the case, an organization needs to re-think. It must justify to itself if it is mandatory for the decision-making authority to stay centralized or it can be decentralized to reap timely results.
Need of the hour is calling for non-decision makers too to be granted decision making authority. It has become a suggested option in the corporate world. If this trend is adopted it can bring a sea change in the way employees work. They will then be on their heels to keep themselves updated personally and professionally leading to the process of continuous improvement; which ultimately benefits an organization.
