Understanding- Urgency Bias. It's around us all the time.
Unfortunately us humans are hardwired to do what is urgent and not what will benefit us the most in the future.
Importance doesn't factor into it.
The most important 'things' in your life are seldom the most urgent.
The most important are due to a compounding process and it takes time to reap the rewards. Think about watering a plant or daily exercise.
We typically don't take the actions on the most important long term 'things' that are not urgent.
You are in this position because you keep telling yourself two lies. 1. It's not urgent so I will do it later 2. it doesn't matter if I put it off for a short time... and guess what you never start. Sound familiar?
The bad news is that by the time the important things become urgent it's often too late.
Your health has suffered, your relationships have stuttered and you have no pension to look forward to either.
This reluctance to change your thought and action process is costing you your future.
In essence.... If urgency and importance had a fight, urgency would win in the first round with a KO.
Solution.
Start by recognising this bias and re-programme your brain to take action today with the long term most important tasks over the perceived urgent ones.
