Some recent highlights from Urbanism Speakeasy:
I don’t care if you own a car, SUV, minivan, pick-up truck, private jet, or one of each. And this post places no judgment on consumerism. I’m writing it because it’s relevant to modern discourse about land use policy, infrastructure funding, government subsidies, and every other aspect of urbanism.
“15-minute city” is a new name for an old thing. I put together a list of outcomes for your reference. Not side effects of 15-minute city concepts, but direct outcomes.
The American Planning Association honors Jacobs in a bunch of ways. They’ve named awards, lectures, and events after her, even though the industry continues to create the outcomes she hotly opposed. I find this endlessly fascinating and I realize I’m not alone.

There are exactly zero local streets in Richmond, VA that need more than two car lanes in each direction. I'm fairly confident the same is true where you live.
