Urban Thinkers Campus TU Delft

With cities densifying and becoming more complex, which education is needed to prepare designers of tomorrow’s cities? Which role does the New Urban Agenda play? These were the questions discussed during the latest Urban Thinkers Campus at the Faculty of Architecture in Delft. Representatives of business, academia, NGO’s and the government joined students to share their experiences and discuss. Charlotte van de Water and Bert Smolders participated on behalf of Arcadis by presenting the company’s involvement in the New Urban Agenda and its incorporation in practice illustrated by the Rwanda Smart City Masterplan. The conclusion on the kind of the education future designers need? Foremost, the skills to communicate, gather knowledge and cooperate with other professionals, who often differ in nationality and discipline and professional language. It is these skills which have proven essential in achieving high-quality results within a limited time frame.
