Last week, a delegation from the international working group Urban Planning for Health Equity | ARL-International) offered a roundtable on Urban Planning for Health Equity with a focus on data visualisation at AESOP - Association of European Schools of Planning2024 in Paris. After short inputs, we had an interesting discussion with the participants.
The inputs were:
- Health equity as a topic for urban planning: Heike K?ckler, Bochum
- Participation in urban planning for health equity: Carlo Fabian, Olten
- The role of visual images in urban planning for health equity: Thomas Verbeek, Delft
- Pathways for visualisation in research about health equity in urban planning: Daniel Münderlein, Kassel
- Health in All Policies at the local level: Miriam Weber, Utrecht
The discussion showed that health in general and health equity in particular are very important topics, especially against the background of social inequalities that also manifest themselves spatially. Visualisations based on both quantitative data (big data) and qualitative, more small-scale data help to understand and analyse the situation and serve as a basis for planning and implementing measures.
