This one-day course is suitable for anyone new or relatively new to Power BI or those who are self-taught and want some best practice guidance. This day-long course covers the end-to-end process of connecting to data, preparing data, creating reports, and publishing reports. The course is also suitable for those wanting to acquaint themselves with Power BI to learn what’s possible so they can better articulate their reporting requirements to others.
Upcoming dates: 6 Jul, 10 Aug, 14 Sep, 19 Oct, 23 Nov
Attendees of this one-day course will learn why we need to model data in Power BI according to industry dimensional modelling standards and what happens when we don’t. They will then learn how to apply best practice Power BI data modelling techniques to design a data model that optimises performance, ease of use, flexibility, and accuracy. Students will gain a grounding in the principles enabling them to design dimensional Power BI models for a wide variety of real-world scenarios. There are hands-on exercises throughout the day to reinforce learnings.
Upcoming dates: 11 Jul, 15 Aug, 19 Sep, 24 Oct, 28 Nov
Attendees of this one-day course will learn how to connect Power BI to different data sources, apply rich transformations to the data, and build a best practice Power BI data model that optimises performance, ease of use, flexibility, and accuracy. Students will delve into M (or Power Query) as well as Power BI data modelling, common errors and best practice. Students will gain a grounding in the principles of data preparation and data modelling enabling them to build reports combining data from multiple sources. This course leverages the example Power BI data model used in the Power BI Data Modelling course. There are hands-on Power BI exercises throughout the day to reinforce learnings.
Upcoming dates: 20 Jun, 18 Jul, 22 Aug, 26 Sep, 31 Oct, 5 Dec
This one-day course is suitable for those that want to take their Power BI data visualisation skills to the next level. The course tackles more advanced topics such as Conditional Formatting, Templates & Themes, Trends and Forecasts, Custom Tooltips, Drill-Through reports, DAX concepts, and much more. These techniques can dramatically improve your ability to tell the story of your data and drive increased adoption of Power BI in your organisation.

Attendees of this one-day course will learn the foundational concepts of the DAX (Data Analysis eXpressions) language, equipping them with the skills to enrich their Power BI data models and reports. Being able to write effective DAX formulas is essential for getting the most out of your data in Power BI. DAX is the native formula and query language for Power BI Desktop, Microsoft PowerPivot and SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular models. DAX formulas are used in measures, calculated columns, calculated tables, and row-level security.
Upcoming dates: 3 Aug, 5 Sep, 10 Oct, 14 Nov, 19 Dec
This one-day course is suitable for anyone needing to communicate more effectively with data. It is one thing to know how to build a report or dashboard in Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Excel, etc., but it’s another to know which chart types to use under different circumstances, when to use colour, how to structure the report and make it look good, and most importantly, how to make it easy for people to consume the information.
Upcoming dates: 7 Aug, 16 Oct, 18 Dec
Attendees of this one-day course will learn the tried and tested Kimball techniques for designing robust dimensional models to support enterprise decision making. Students will gain a solid foundation in Dimensional Modelling that they can apply directly to their workplace projects. Dimensional Modelling is an approach to make it easier and faster to store, read, summarize and analyse information in a data warehouse. The concept of Dimensional Modelling was developed by Ralph Kimball and made famous in the book ‘The Data Warehouse Toolkit’ (Kimball/Ross, 2013) that established a whole new vocabulary including “facts” and “dimensions”.
