Upside-Down Pyramid of Secrets

Upside-Down Pyramid of Secrets

Some comedy writers make people laugh about everyday things like dating, dirty socks & guac on burritos. I'm the weirdo who prefers writing humor about:

  • Application architects in financial services being unable to detect fraud patterns w/software that uses relational databases
  • Cybersecurity analysts struggling as they use spreadsheets to help manage their company's DNS/IP addresses
  • The impacts of marketing execs & privacy offers who use spreadsheets to keep on top of ever-changing global privacy compliance laws.
  • How management at food processing plants struggle to communicate with frontline workers who don't have email addresses or even speak english
  • Network operation managers struggling with network visibility
  • Marketers at residential property management companies using multiple technologies to list and market units and the challenges that poses.
  • How painful it is for CIOs & COOs who have to oversee everything thing to with the "print" function (managing toner, network drivers, paper replenishment, etc.).....all my clients' target personas.

Check out some examples.

Nothing anyone reading is selling or marketing is SO serious (or boring) that we can't find the funny.......and deliver it in a way that gets your prospects saying:

"That's funny because it's true. I'm listening..."

Sellers and marketers don't need to be hilarious...

...but you do need to highlight understanding of your prospects' grim realities in a way that makes you different from everyone not doing do any of the above.

But HOW CAN WE DO IT? Isn't that why you're here?

AI? No. It still can't really do it. And even if it could - people know it's AI, not you.

So, I've put together a primer through the magic of Canva (which I'm bad at):

Clear? Confusing?

Fine. I'll unpack each of the five rungs over the next few weeks (I may move this to newsletter to Thursdays) and get you thinking more about how you can gather up some pieces of the humor-crafting puzzle, and assembling them for yourself.

Now...who's coming to Chipotle?
