UPS?is laying off more employees, following a?steep round of job cuts?announced earlier this year. A spokesperson for UPS confirmed to Atlanta Business Chronicle that the company plans to further reduce its headcount of non-union management workers.
"We continue to look for ways to increase productivity through process improvements, technology advancements and organization realignment," the spokesperson said.

The Colonnade, one of Atlanta's oldest restaurants, has sold. Its new owners are long-time patrons. They shared their plans for the 97-year-old eatery, which is well known for its fried chicken, Southern sides and chilled martinis.

Walt Ehmer, chairman of Waffle House, has died. He was 58 years old. His cause of death was not released. Waffle House's board of directors told staff on Sept. 6 he passed away following a long illness, according to a memo the company shared with Atlanta Business Chronicle.

A 10-acre Downtown site?foreclosed upon last year?is back on the market. Atlanta-based SSG Realty Partners LLC is listing the property at Ted Turner Drive and Whitehall Street.?
The property was?once envisioned as Forge Atlanta, a life sciences campus with multiple towers.?Those plans collapsed in a difficult financing environment, but conditions look to improve into next year.

Norfolk Southern has fired CEO Alan Shaw. The Atlanta-based railroad fired Shaw for cause on Sept. 11 after an?investigation into alleged misconduct.
Norfolk Southern said the investigation was regarding a "consensual relationship" between Shaw and Chief Legal Officer Nabanita Nag, which violated company policy.

The Atlanta chef behind a Michelin-recommended restaurant will launch his next venture at the Woodruff Arts Center.?Chef Craig Richards will bring a new concept to the former Table 1280 space.
It sits in the center of the Midtown campus that houses the High Museum of Art, Alliance Theatre and Atlanta Symphony Hall.?Richards will call the restaurant Elise, a nod to the popular Beethoven composition Für Elise.?

New plans have emerged for a large development near Truist Park in Cobb County.
The project calls for a 20-story apartment building with 650 units, two 2-story buildings with 175,000 square feet of commercial space, and an up-to 12-story building with 200,000 square feet of office space and 250 hotel rooms. It would also including a public plaza, park area and 1,700 parking spaces.

A veteran Georgia banker is turning over the handlebars of a regional bank’s local operations.
Bill Linginfelter — known to many as the executive steering his trademark Regions Bank green bicycle through the office in an oft-played public television spot — will retire at year end as the Atlanta market executive of the Alabama bank.

One of Atlanta's biggest law firms is merging to create a legal giant.
Troutman Pepper and Dallas-based Locke Lord announced they will merge to become Troutman Pepper Locke. The merger is scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2025, and will create a firm with more than 1,600 attorneys across 33 offices in the United States and two in Europe.
