UPMC Hamot Clinician's Council leads Community School nurse supply drive
United Way of Erie County
Together, with you, we're on a MISSION to CRUSH POVERTY in Erie, PA
United Way of Erie County would like to recognize the UPMC Hamot Clinician’s Council, whose members held a Community School Nurse Support Drive to gather items most needed by school nurses across our 16 community schools.?
The Clinician’s Council aims to help new nurse leaders at UPMC Hamot grow their leadership skills and create a support system and opportunity to discuss challenges and best practices. The Council came together to determine ways they could most effectively support the Erie County community. When the idea to host a school nurse supply drive through United Way's Community School Model was brought up, members were supportive across the board.?
?“It’s the very first time a drive of this type specifically has been done for school nurses, which was close to the heart because it was about nurses helping nurses", said Senior Clinician Eileen Talbot. “We not only got to help the community schools, but we got to help our sister nurses in their field, which is really remarkable.”?
Highly requested items like tissues, Band-Aids, cough drops, lip balm, exam gloves and more were collected for school nurses. The donations are being distributed to United Way community schools throughout the month. Thank you to the Clinician’s Council, who have demonstrated what community support of our schools looks like in action!?
