With the escalating need for more sustainable operations, particularly in energy-intensive industries, this grant empowers Queensland manufacturers to implement energy-efficient solutions with significant financial support.
The Challenge
The brewery, cleaning 100’s ?of kegs a week, faced rising energy costs due to its old electric-powered keg washing machine. The equipment was not only inefficient, but it also contributed to unnecessary energy wastage, increasing operational expenses.
The brewery needed a solution that could reduce its energy consumption without compromising on the cleanliness and safety of its kegs. After learning about the MEEG Program, the brewery decided to apply for the grant to fund the purchase and installation of a new $150,000 steam-powered keg washer.
The Solution: Steam-Powered Keg Washing Machine
By switching from an electric-powered machine to a steam-powered keg washer, the brewery was able to reduce its energy consumption in the area ?by more than 50%. The steam-powered system used significantly less energy to heat the cleaning water and maintained more consistent temperatures, leading to a more efficient cleaning process.
With Orbit Strategists' help, the brewery successfully applied for the MEEG Program, receiving $50,000? ?of the project cost reimbursed. This allowed the brewery to modernize its equipment with minimal financial strain and realize substantial energy savings.
