Upgrade to Oracle RAC 19c with Zero downtime
Customers planning on upgrading to Oracle Database 19c will soon realize that Oracle Database 19c requires Linux version 7.x because of a glibc version 2.17 dependency, Therefore upgrading to Oracle Database 19c requires that the underlying operating system be upgraded.
Note: The steps below covers OS and GI upgrade. Upgrading the database may require using tools like "Zero Downtime Upgrade"
Executing ./gridSetup on an older operating system like Linux 6 will report an error as follows
Customers running Oracle RAC can benefit from upgrading both the OS and Grid Infrastructure without any downtime by performing a series of delete node, upgrade and add node operations.
Or if your OS provider allows you to upgrade in place, then you can use the #rootcrs updateOSfiles option as shown below
