Updating your Profile Pic: Who cares?
Have you ever met someone in person that didn't look like their Profile Pic? Most of us have had this experience. Wether it was an interview, a sales meeting, an audition, or perhaps worst of all, a date...the person standing in front of you is not what you expected. This is never a good start to any relationship. We might even feel like the person is not being 100% honest with us about who they are. Maybe that is extreme, but maybe it's not.
So how often should you change your Profile Pic? The first question to ask yourself is, "does my current pic still look like me?" If not, it is time.
I recently had a client go from being a blonde to a brunette. She had several auditions coming up and couldn't submit her Headshots as a blonde then show up to the audition as a brunette. So she came in for another Headshot session even though her last session was less than a year ago.
Significantly changing your cut and/or color is a good example of when it would be a good time to update your profile pic.
Some other examples:
- you've grown a beard (or shaved one off that you have had for years)
- you've lost a lot of weight
- or both, which was the case for me.
- you're still using your college graduation photo (and you graduated 15 years ago!)
- or worst of all, you don't have a Profile Pic!
Regardless of the reason, if you no longer look like your Profile Pic it is time for a new one. Don't show up for that interview, meeting, date, etc. looking like another person. Start things off on the right note with a fresh and current pic. Your Headshot is your personal brand. Make it count!
