Greetings to my friends, family, and fans. A lot of people have been asking me questions about Salaam and Junub Games. How did the Kickstarter go? When will the game be finished? What inspired you to start making video games in the first place?
In order to keep you up to date, I’ve decided to launch a monthly newsletter to share more about my life, my game, and all of the reasons why games for peace and social impact are so important to me.
The Kickstarter went well. Although we did not reach our goal, we were able to raise over $27,000 from 330 supporters. Everyone’s belief in me and support of Salaam has been incredible. Thank you so much for supporting Junub Games. Without this amazing community we would not be able to bring about positive change in the world.
We were able to generate a lot of awareness for my fundraising efforts through launching our Kickstarter. As a result, we are very fortunate to have been able to raise some money to continue building Salaam.
We will be using the funding to hire a team, finish the game and build the Trailer.
The trailer will be the first opportunity that the public will have to view our gameplay and see how games can be used to create peace and social impact. We are lucky to have been recognized at the Game Awards last year, where Facebook Gaming awarded me with The Global Gaming Citizen.
Games are a powerful tool to be used to create an impact in this world. They engage people and teach them how to make decisions. For someone that comes from a war-torn region like South Sudan, it is important for me to create something for them that is reflective of my life and the type of childhood that children face all over the world.
In order for us to create a sustainable peace in war-torn regions, we must change the mindset that young people have towards violence. Games have the ability to divert the mind of young people away from negativity and pain, providing an outlet to show young people the consequences of their actions.
Thank you all so much for following along and supporting me. I look forward to sharing more updates very soon.
