Updates to Office 365 for Mac in January 2019

As someone who uses Apple products a lot, I closely watch this space (although working with Windows devices day-in-day-out does have a little bit of a negative effect on me). As many fellow Mac users will know, Office products on Mac in the past haven't been too good. They've been very clunky, slow and nothing like their Windows counter-parts, which has detracted from the productivity of using the Office suite. In recent years, however, Microsoft and Apple have upped their game, providing a better user-experience which is similar to that of the experience one can expect on a Windows device. That said, in my personal opinion, there are still changes and customisation which could be made to close the gap, but nonetheless it's still a very productive and efficient user experience.

For January 2019, Microsoft have made some new announcements for the Mac line-up.

You can now download the Office 365 Suite with just one click from the Mac App Store - users can download the cloud-connected, always-up-to-date version of the Office suite which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook and OneDrive directly from the Mac App Store without having to login to their Office 365 portal.

Files On-Demand for OneDrive makes it easier to access all of your files in Office 365 directly within the Finder window without taking up the storage resources on your device. You can take files offline when you need for those times you are without an internet connection and free up storage space when you no longer need a local copy of the file. This feature is only available on macOS Mojave at present. This feature is, in my opinion, very well suited the macOS environment. Apple are offering more and more of their portable devices with less storage as users are becoming heavily reliant on cloud technologies. As such, this is the answer that personally I have been looking for for some time now and Microsoft have finally heard our voices!

To stay up-to-date with out features and releases and updates, especially with relations to Apple, Office 365 and the world of technology, check back with me next week.
