BETT 2024 Were you there?

We had a fabulous time at the world's largest EdTech event last week. Sore feet all around, but some fantastic connections were made and collaborations formed which will prove invaluable in our international expansion.

At the awards ceremony, we painted the town red. Even though our two nominations didn't win against the giants at the BBC, we are immensely proud of our achievement. Earning nominations for two awards is an achievement in its own right. We departed with smiles, inspired and more determined than ever to support children worldwide.

"Whatever the outcome this evening, we will still feel like winners! We've seen the positive transformation our programmes have made for children and in schools and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved" - Nadim Saad - CEO & Founder

British Schools in the Middle East

While we were spending our time in London, our colleague Danielle Fanton was busy over in Abu Dhabi attending the BSME - British Schools in the Middle East 's Wellbeing Conference at Aspen Heights British School . Children across the world are exposed to common stressors such as academic pressure, bullying, social media influence, and family issues making our expansion into this region as important as ever.

Mindful Teaching: 5 Effective Strategies to Boost Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools

In a world that's increasingly fast-paced and filled with stimuli, the importance of teaching children mindfulness cannot be overstated. Mindfulness is one of the 10 powers we teach children in our programmes and an important life skill -whatever your age or stage in life. It is the practice of being fully present and engaged in the moment, has been shown to have significant benefits for mental health and overall wellbeing.

1. Understanding Mindfulness: At its core, mindfulness is about awareness. It’s about teaching children to pay attention to their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the world around them in a non-judgmental way. This helps them develop a better understanding of themselves and how they relate to others.

2. Mindful Breathing Exercises: A simple way to introduce mindfulness to children is through breathing exercises. Encourage them to take a few moments each day to focus on their breath. Guiding them to notice the rise and fall of their chest, the sensation of air entering and exiting their nostrils, can be a calming and grounding experience.

3. Mindful Walking and Play: Mindfulness can be incorporated into everyday activities. During walks or playtime, prompt children to notice the feel of the ground under their feet, the sounds around them, or the texture of objects they are playing with. This helps them stay engaged in the present moment.

4. Mindfulness Through Art and Creativity: Creative activities like drawing, painting, or crafting can be wonderful opportunities for mindfulness. Encourage children to focus on the process rather than the outcome, observing the colours they use, the sensations of the materials, and the emotions they feel as they create.

5. Starting a Gratitude Journal: Encourage children to keep a gratitude journal where they can write down things they are thankful for each day. This practice helps them focus on positive aspects of their life, fostering a sense of contentment and wellbeing.
