It’s been a busy start to the year on the event trail. We’re constantly staying up to date on the latest developments, building relationships, and making introductions in the industries we serve.
Here are a few of our favorite conferences and events so far this year:

Conor McGuinness
attended the ProMat supply chain conference in Chicago along with many of our 3PL partners. Conor mentioned data, automation, and sustainability as key takeaways. Whether it’s for load or slotting optimization or for some other end, warehouse operators appreciate the value of actionable real-time insights and need new ways to capture and leverage that data (think Heartland portfolio company
Fulfilld
). The same goes for automation—frontline workers can’t keep up with increasing demands at the dock door or throughout the facility. This is where ProMat presenter (and Heartland portfolio company)
Third Wave Automation
comes in. Finally, many exhibitors showcased solutions for reducing waste and conserving energy. As 3PL customers increasingly clamor for sustainability solutions, Heartland is eager to test the real-world ROI of such tech.

Mary Frailey Kenney
attended
BuiltWorlds
’ Venture West conference in San Francisco, which brought together startups, investors, and corporations focused on emerging technologies impacting the built world. Mary says the BuiltWorlds event was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas with innovators and operators driving rapid change in construction and real estate. Major themes of the week included emerging prefab and modular construction methods and the increasing impacts of climate regulations on the economics of construction and real estate.
- Mary also attended the Columbus Region Logistics Council’s Women in Logistics event. The well-attended, single-day event was put on by the Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by
FST Logistics
and
EASE Logistics
. Mary met with logistics leaders from all over central Ohio focused on recruiting and retaining more women in logistics.
