Updates on the 'Employer of Choice' Gender Diversity Awards and Climate2Equal

CERB continues to emphasize highlighting business contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the CERB Sustainability Directory and the SDG Leadership Programme. To learn more about both, please email [email protected].

What's new this week:

We are excited to extend an invitation to the 3rd IFC-PBC “Employer of Choice” Gender Diversity Awards in Karachi on 26th September, 2024. This year, we received over 40 nominations from businesses across Pakistan, demonstrating the private sector's commitment to advancing gender diversity disclosures.

This ceremony will also mark the culmination of the “Climate2Equal” Peer Learning Collaboration with the IFC, announcing 3 winners out of the 20+ companies that committed to this journey. Earlier in June, 13 of these companies had presented the progress on their pledges for gender-inclusive climate action to a jury of experts.

Don’t Miss the Debate!

This year’s ceremony features a dynamic parliamentary debate on the motion: “This House Believes that Businesses, Not Governments, Should Take Primary Responsibility for Ensuring Gender Diversity in the Workplace.”? With Pakistan’s Vision 2025 targeting a 45% female labor force participation rate by 2025—but the current rate stagnant around 22%—the debate will delve into who should lead the change: corporations or governments, through an exploration of each stakeholder’s role and sphere of influence.

  • Date: 26th September 2024
  • Time: 10:00 – 01:30 pm
  • Location: Khorshed Mahal, Avari Towers, Karachi

We encourage you to register your teams to be part of this event. For any queries regarding the awards or ceremony, please do not hesitate to contact me or my colleague, Rajaa Bokhari, at [email protected]?

According to the Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) published by the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) in August 2023, an average Pakistani could live 3.9 years longer if our air quality met the WHO guidelines (10x worse currently)

CERB's report on Business Leadership in Environmental Stewardship: Air Quality, highlights how the private sector can manage air quality by installing air quality monitors, using low-sulfur fuels, and converting agricultural waste into renewable energy. The government can enhance air quality by revising Ambient Air Quality Standards, offering subsidized loans for eco-friendly projects, and improving risk assessment frameworks in financial?institutions.
