Update/Inside The Commercial Demo #4: Disney
Here is an update on my business, so far. I know it has been a long time, but I am back. I am still in the process of insulating my home studio. In the meantime, I am now up to 169 views on my Voices. Com account. 134 views for my Animation Demo. 24 views for my Commercial Demo and 11 views for my Narration Demo. I continue to learn more about my craft whenever I can as well as I am now receiving a lot of job opportunities. I am looking forward to the future in this craft as I have seen possibilities and I know that I have to patience, but I feel like my dream is slowly at hand and I wait for the day that it is fully in my grasp.
Now, let’s look into topic number 4 on my Commercial Demo, Disney. I had a script that had to do with Disney travels and destinations. I will say something about Disney as a company. It is a company that really speaks to the kid in all of us, especially within this commercial. This commercial provides pure excitement and enjoyment of simply riding a ride and enjoying the sites in the Disney resort. As the commercial states,
“Disney resorts have so much to offer; the rides, the shows, the stops. It’s all in one place. Disney, the happiest place on earth.”
There is such joy in delivering a line and experiencing the effects of each word in the line. Each word offers more depth every time you express the line. You can take each line in different direction with different. Yet, this line seeks to convey pure joy. You start by delivering the first part as your way into explaining what Disney offers and then you lean into the parts that makes it exciting: the rides, the shows, the stops. You conclude with the definition of Disney that Disney is the happiest place on earth and all the joy you can experience derives from one place.
Now, I am 90’s kid and I have to say that Disney started on the premise of their movies that focus on myths, legends, fables and Broadway shows that they have made into animated movies. The first Disney movie that I watched was the Rescuers Down Under, which starred Bob Newhart and John Candy. I loved the dynamic between the main bad guy, who was a poacher(Newhart) and the boy he kidnapped as well as the mouse and the albatross (John Candy) who sought to find him. It was fun movie and interesting take on a sequel and it made like Animated Movies. Disney continued with their animated movies with the Little Mermaid, which starred Rene Aburjonis from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Jodi Benson, Nancy Cartwright (Marge from The Simpson’s) and Pat Carrol as Ursula; and Beauty and the Beast, which starred Paige O’ Hara as Belle, Robbie Benson, Jerry Orbach from Law & Order, David Ogden Stiers, and Angela Lansbury as the Teapot.
I have to say I like Beauty and the Beast way more than The Little Mermaid. David Ogden Stiers opening narration brings you to the daunting depressing reality of the dilemma of the beast, while Paige O’ Hara’s light-heartiness really shows with her performance as Belle. This movie feature hit songs “Gaston,” the lead song “Beauty and the Beast” performed by Angela Lansbury in the movie and Celion Dion and Peabo Bryson on the Soundtrack, as well as the song “Be Our Guest.” Disney continue their animated movies with Aladdin next. This movie consists stars Scott Weigner as Aladdin, Linda Larkin as Jasmine, Robin Williams as the Genie, Gilbert Godfrey as Iago, and Douglas Steele as Jafar. This movie was phenomenal for its time with the hit song “A Whole New World.” This movie was so good because both Aladdin and Jasmine felt out of place and it took them being together to realize their places. This movie was so good that it was able to have 2 more sequels, The Return of Jafar, and Aladdin: King of Thieves.
After Aladdin, Disney moved on The Lion King, which stared James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Young Simba, Mathew Broderick as Older Simba, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jeremy Irons as Scar. This movie was about a coming of age story where Simba had to learn his place in life and grow up from child to man as he sought what it meant to be king as one of the songs states, “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.” His nemesis, Scar, wanted throne for himself, so he schemed and murder Simba’s father, Mufasa, and then caused young Simba to go into exile, where Simba meets a young meerkat and young warhog, Timon and Pumba, who teach him, “Hakuna Mitata,” “No Worries.” Later, Simba is confronted of this mentality by Nalia, that this is not the way that king acts and that Simba is coward. Brought to his senses by vision from his dead father, Mufasa, Simba returns back to gain his inheritance and free the animals of Pride Rock from Scar’s grotesque conduct and abuse. When Simba returns with Timon, Pumba, and Nalia, he realizes that Scar has left Pride Rock as barren, desolate wasteland with his mother in tow. At the end of movie, Simba frees Pride Rock and ushers new age and we are carried away by Elton’s John’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” This movie was good enough to create sequel, Simba’s Pride, yet it wasn’t good as the first Lion King, yet the Lion King has been an award nominated Tony award winner for nearly 20 or 30 years. So this story carries weight of its own.
Disney continued with animated movies of the 90s like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a movie where an imp didn’t feel like he belong and he felt accursed because of how looked, yet he was taken a new look by harlot named Desdemona and throughout the movie the Hunchback seeks to profess his love for her. This all-star cast stars Demi Moore as Desdemona, Tom Hulce as Quasimodo, Tony Jay as Frolio, Kevin Kline, Jason Alexander, and David Ogden Stiers. Hercules was okay in my book, so I won’t talk about that movie, but Mulan and Tarzan were exceptional.
In Mulan, we have a woman who has always been forced to be a stereotype. But that stereotype seeks to change when an invading army approaches her people. And as a woman, she is not allowed to become the member of the Chinese army to fight the Huns, which is the invading army, so Mulan disguises herself as man to become a member of the Chinese army, so she can fight for her people and her sick father. Partnered with her dragon friend, Mishu, she seeks to become a great warrior and she is trained by Captain Liang Shang. With the trademark song, “I Can Make a Man Out of You,” this movie soared to new heights with an all-star cast of Ming-Na Wen as Mulan, Eddie Murphy as Mishu, BD Wong as Captain Li Shang, Miguel Ferrer, Pat Morita, George Takei, and Frank Weller. Tarzan was another movie that caused Disney to soar new heights. The original soundtrack was basically a Phil Collins soundtrack with N’Sync on one of the songs. All of the songs were so good and Sunny 99 agrees with since it constantly replayed this soundtrack for years. “You’ll be in My Heart,” was one of the well-known songs that Sunny 99 replayed. “Strangers Like Me,” was another well-known song that Sunny 99 played. This movie had another all-star cast with Tony Goldwyn as Tarzan, Glen Close as Kala, Minnie Driver as Jane, Rosie O’ Donnell as Turk, Wayne McKnight as Tanton. Throughout the 2000s, there were a few more animated movies from Disney like Frozen and the Princess and The Frog, but the 90’s movies, I think, is where Disney hit its strides. Yet, have no fear, guys all of these movies seem to be getting a live-action treatment. They have done a live-action movie of Dumbo, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and in the near future Mulan. These live action movies are going to give the Disney classics a whole new spin.
At its heart, Disney has always been about empowering people to find their identity. A lot of people may not always agree about how Disney goes about this and what they support, but for the sake of not starting fights, I don’t want to focus on the conflicting views that Disney may represent. I wish talk about the company that Walt Disney himself envision. Disney has always been good about bringing the audience into a new world, so the song says, and once you are in this world, they intend to immerse you into it to the point that you would wish to stay in it forever. Disney is a place where our inner kid comes out.
In late end of the 2000’s, starting 2009, Disney changed the game a bit when they bought out Marvel and they changed the game again when they bought Lucas Arts (Star Wars) in 2011. Now, before this, Disney had partnered with Pixar Studios to create a lot of storyboard animation features such as Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3; A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles 1 and 2; Cars 1,2, and 3; Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Brave, Monster’s University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Cocoa, and Toy Story 4. Now, originally, Pixar was a storyboard company that was created with George Lucas and a friend of his Ed Helms. Steve Jobs bought out the company and rebranded as Pixar in 1986. Disney started collaborate with the company in the same year to improve their technology and by 1991 they had to come to an agreement where Disney and Pixar would jointly put out a yearly movie start with Toy Story. (Pixar.com) Also, Disney had star power in their early rise not just because of Pixar, but because they merged with ABC. This gave Disney more ability to utilize their properties worldwide. Also, when Disney merged with ABC, they also gained ESPN, which ABC had already had ownership of them.
So my point is that Disney already had star power with these companies alone and by Disney adding both Marvel and Lucas Arts to their belt, it skyrocketed the company in a way that no one thought possible. For in 2011, Disney started to add these franchises in their Disney Christmas parade on ABC early in the morning at 9:00 A.M. Yet, 2 of the biggest undertakings where these 2 companies, Marvel and Lucas Arts where planning and how Disney buying them out help put them in a way better place.
At the beginning of 2008, Marvel began its gigantic Avengers/Marvel Cinematic Universe under the guise of Marvel Studios. Iron Man was its first success, which helped Marvel continue with Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger. I and others didn’t like the sequel of Iron Man so much. It just seemed like a bad joke, yet it showed how Tony and his father had hurt so many people under his guise of heroism, which started a trend of bad guy’s that not only wanted to destroy Iron Man, but his reputation as well. The Incredible Hulk was pretty good, but this movie felt like a subset of the 1st phase since they were about to change the actor who played Hulk once again. Thor and Captain America were equal box office hits, which brought people to the moment that they were waiting for, the culmination of phase 1 of much larger plan, the box office hits Marvel’s Avengers.
Marvel’s Avengers engrossed over 1.5 billion, and it prided itself on meshing all these superheroes in such over the top ways collectively and individually such as: seeing how Black Widow’s works as a spy and how she can single-handedly control the room in such a way that you would never see it coming, we see the evolution of Tony’s ingenuity as well as his suits, we see more of Thor’s over-the-top humor, as well as hero match ups that we have seen comics for years like Thor V.S. Iron Man V.S. Captain America, or Black Widow V.S. Hawkeye, or The Hulk V.S. Black Widow V.S. Thor. So safe to say, we had a lot of fan moments for a movie that was the end of Phase 1 and the introductory phase of these heroes. This movie focused on one of the villains that was in the 1st Phase and the main enemy of Thor, his brother Loki. Loki had connived and schemed to get the throne from his father, Odin. Before Odin was removed, he exiled Thor to earth for gross misconduct of trying to impose his will on the 9 realms, where Odin had warned him that a leader is more of an overseer than enforcer. Once Loki has the throne, he decides to attack Thor and get rid of his competition. Loki fails on earth when he decides to send the Destroyer and he fails on Asgard as he is fighting Thor. After Loki’s defeat, he somehow ends up forming an alliance with Thano’s minions, the Chitauri, that if he delivers the Tesseract (The Space Stone) to Thano’s he can have leadership over the earth, which it drives him to attack the Avenger’s, collectively and individually. As I have stated, this movie was a box office smashed, was able to bring the comic to life in such a way that through the action and the photography and cinematography, this movie will be remember as a movie for its time and for its decade.
The end of this movie began a starting point to get to the main villain of this gigantic endeavor, Thanos. And after this movie, we begin Phase 2, which starts with the final Iron Man, Iron Man 3. I will say I am not really a fan of the Iron Man trilogy. The first one was okay, but the other 2 huge bombs. The trilogy in a whole felt like big gigantic joke, especially in the 3rd one, where they take one of Iron Man’s biggest villains and organization in the comics on, the Mandarin and A.I.M(Advanced Idea Mechanics). Now, the way they took on A.I.M was pretty accurate; however, the Mandarin is another story. The Mandarin is Stark’s most iconic villain, who is known for his own gems, which in the Iron-Man Animated Series was his bread and butter; however, in the movies, the Mandarin is just a terrorist who has been hired by A.I.M. to hurt Tony for one of their ideas being rejected by him. Yet, the Mandarin is not who we think he is. The man who seems to be the Mandarin is just an English actor named Trevor Slattery while the actual Mandarin is a disabled scientist named Aldrich Killian who seeks to humiliate and completely destroy Tony’s reputation for his idea of regenerative drug named Extremis being rejected by Tony. Killian injects Extremis into Pepper Potts, Stark’s girlfriend, in hopes that he will seek to fix the kinks with the program. Killian also intends to adduct the president with the Iron Patriot suit controlled by Savin, an A.I.M agents. The action was okay, but I think the best moments of the movie is when Tony meets this 10-year-old boy named Harley, who helps him find the Mandarin. They developed a special bond that we would later learn continues past phase 2 and beyond. We learn throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though Tony was not always best with this, Tony’s most memorable moments is when he sought to impact certain individuals lives. More on that in a bit.
Next, we moved into Thor: The Dark World, which was okay. We got to see most the cast return as well as some good moments with Thor and Loki, a return of Captain America (sort of), and more inside Thor and his merry band with Lady Sif and the Warriors 3. Thor was doing rather well throughout the realms until he fought an ancient evil named Malekith, who wanted to converge all the 9 realms into one by using what we would later learn would be the Reality Stone. Eventually, Thor would prevail, Thor’s mom dies, and we would later learn a surprise at the end, that Loki ended up playing Odin as ruler of Asgard.
Now, we enter the final movie in the original character set of Phase 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This was a dynamite hit and favorite movie of mine. I really liked the Captain America Trilogy. Captain America: The First Avenger was okay, but Steve Roger’s emergence into the character as well as his fights with Red Skull and H.Y.D.R.A. as well as his merry band of compatriots and his budding friendship with Bucky Barnes really made the movie. In the Winter Soldier, this movie had dueling meaning. In a way, this term of “Winter Soldier” was referring to Captain America and how he felt like a man out of place and out of time since returning back to a world that forgot him and now he is a new world and being taught new things on how life works. Life has become more digital, computerized, and mechanized since he was last in it, which brings us to his antithesis, the Winter Solder, thus, the point of why the movie is named what it is. We see through this movie that both the Winter Soldier and Captain America are men out of their time and place. They are both trained to be the best of who they are. Cap, trained by S.H.I.E.L.D., and Winter Soldier, trained by H.Y.D.R.A. They are both determined and focus warriors. Yet, their ideologies are crafted to be different. One is based upon freedom and equality and another is based on control and self-preservation. These 2 forces and 2 ideologies collide, but they are not what they seem. It seems like their ideologies crisscross. As Nick Fury, the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. seeks to create 3 hover-vehicles linked to create the ultimate battle called Project: Insight. Yet, Captain America feels like this action doesn’t freedom; it represents fear; however, Nick Fury states that, “S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the world as it is, not the way we would hope it to be.”
The reverse of this mindset is represented by another antithesis, Senator Alexander Pierce, who is member of the Security Council that overrules S.H.I.E.L.D. Played by Robert Redford, Pierce is man who is risk taker for what he deems to be peace. He lives in the gray and he justifies every action with a logical discourse. As he states, “To create a better world requires tearing the old one down, and that makes enemies.” Through this suspense thriller, we see conspiracy and intrigue enfold as Captain America’s 2 worlds collide, his past and his present with S.H.I.E.L.D. He later learns that H.Y.D.R.A. didn’t die, but buried deep into seclusion until it was the right time to strike. Arnim Zola, Red Skull’s main scientist, became recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. and secretly plotted its downfall from within. All this time, he had been experimented on Captain America’s friend, Bucky Barnes and turned him into The Winter Soldier to use him as weapon and H.Y.D.R.A’s “Iron Fist.” Eventually, this conspiracy leads all the way into S.H.I.E.L.D. As a hit on Nick Fury causes Captain America, Black Widow, and their new partner, the Falcon, to learn H.Y.D.R.A. has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. under the leadership of Alexander Pierce. Pierce seeks to use Fury’s plans to create H.Y.D.R.A’s new world order. Pierce’s plans are foiled and H.Y.D.R.A. scurries underground again and Winter Soldier disappears into the wind.
We continue this darker motif with the 2nd Avengers. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, we see that the Avengers have completely decimated the last traces of H.Y.D.R.A. as we learn on A.G.E.N.T.S of S.H.I.E.LD. that the remaining band helps with that mission, covertly, of course. So they seek to celebrate, but Tony, who is entranced by a spell by Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, just before they leave begins to be overruled by his fear and his desire to end the Avengers all together and creates a machine with an artificial intelligence to help in that process. This machine evolves with the operation function of assimilating Jarvis, Tony’s living computer program, and becomes Ultron. Ultron sees humanity as illogical function and cancer, so he seeks eradicate it and seeks to bring all beings under robotic assimilation. Basically, he has taken Tony’s mission of computers protecting the world to the nth degree. This movie is also notorious for introducing the Avengers 90’s cast of the comics to the Marvel Cinematic universe, such as Scarlett Witch; her brother, Pietro Maximoff, Quicksilver, Vision, and legitimizing Falcon as an Avenger. With the mission to create a world dominated by robots, with the Mind Stone, Ultron seeks to create his “Vision.” Vision is synthezoid made of organic tissue, who can phase through solid objects, and control the Mind Stone. He is completely pure and innocent and has been overwoven with Jarvis’ configurations. He is the bridge of humanity and artificial intelligence. Vision sees Ultron’s desire as cruel and unusual punishment. Everyone right to live and given the chance to excel. The only difference of Ultron in the movies and in the comics is that in the comics Hank Pym, Antman, creates him. At the end of the movie, we see Thanos, the puppet master, is using all of these events to gain access to the Infinity Stones.
So it is interesting that as we start Phase 3, we begin with Antman, and then we start with the original set of movies, starting with Captain America: Civil War. Captain America: Civil War really dives into certain themes. Basically, Civil War was comic event that stretched throughout all the Avengers books and consisted of the implications of government being the venue of distinguishing justice. As we have seen the Justice League, the Avengers are a group of powerful individuals that have invoked their rule on humanity and have taken justice into their own hands. Should they be allowed to do this? As Captain America seeks to follow on old villain who helped H.Y.D.R.A. from the movie The Winter Soldier, a supreme solider named Rumlow, (In this movie, he calls himself “Crossbones.”), an incident causes some questions of how the Avengers are handling their business. So General “Thunderbolt” Ross, which returns from Iron Man 2, seeks to supplant a law called the Sokovia Accords, which deems the U.N. would control all the Avengers activities and would tell them when to go and when it would be deemed necessary for them to be utilized in a situation. If the heroes didn’t agree to this plan, they would retire. These accords would cause a divide between the Avengers under Captain America and Iron Man, the 2 leaders of the Avengers. Captain America and his team: Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, Antman, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier, believe in freedom, while Team Iron Man: War Machine, Vision, Black Widow, Black Panther, and Spider-Man, believe in government and systems. It is funny how Captain America and Iron Man reversed roles in this movie and this comic book event. Captain America used to be a big advocate of the rules and Iron Man has always been about his own self-interest and his own individuality being placed above everyone else. It’s funny how in this movie they still believe in what they believed before; however, the motivations of their actions change. Captain America is still a big believer in the rules; however, he believes in individuality and free will and that “we aren’t not perfect, but the safest hands our own. Iron Man is still for his self-interest, but because of his guilt in his part with his actions with creating Ultron, he believes he should reign himself in. These ideologies clash; however, someone else has his own personal stakes in this and his name is Helmut Zemo. (I believe this was the movie’s attempt to focus on one of Captain America’s main villians, Baron Zemo; however, they completely take a different view of this character.) On the other hand, Helmut Zemo is man on a mission of vengeance for his wife and kid, who were killed in Sokovia, and he blames Avengers, so he uses all of this to try to split them up and cause them to destroy each other. His plan is foiled, but he caused so much turmoil and chaos along the way, even bringing the Winter Soldier out of hiding just to get at the Avengers. Civil War showed that our beliefs can either unite us or divide us and usually they end up dividing us and causing us to choose side.
Next, we are introduced to Dr. Strange, who was an Easter egg brought up earlier in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In this movie, we see that he is narcist and physician, who seeks to help people for his own self-interest, much akin to Iron Man; however, because car wreck, life takes away the one thing that gave him value and that he was good at, saving lives. After his wreck, he hears about an ancient maven who can help him called The Ancient One. This Ancient One teaches Dr. Stephen Strange about the metaphysical world and that there is a world beyond his influence and reach and he could use this newfound power to help himself, but the possibilities he could for the world would be far greater. Eventually, he is attacked by this cult, who seeks to unleash Dormammu, the dreaded reality feeder. Throughout this movie, Dr. Stephen Strange must choose to put the world over his own needs and also, we are introduced to the Time Stone in this movie, which Dr. Strange uses to defeat Dormammu by putting himself in time loop with Dormammu. At the end of Dr. Strange, we are introduced to Thor: Ragnorok’s issues where we Thor and Dr. Strange meet for the first time.
So, next, of course, Thor: Ragnorok.Thor: Ragnorok starts with what seems like ending Ragnorok by defeating Surtur. He returns to Asgard and realizes the big secret left from Thor: The Dark World, Loki is actually lead Asgard under the guise of Odin while Odin is in the Odin sleep. Thor eventually takes Loki back to earth to find out where Loki is hiding Odin. Thus, he is apprehended by Dr. Strange who is worried about Loki being on Earth for he is danger and committed atrocities already. Thor tells Dr. Strange he just wants to find his father. He is brought to his father by a dimensional portal by Dr. Strange and both Thor and Loki talked to him for a bit before he dies and mysteriously disappears; however, before he does he tells Thor that their sister is coming and she will bring danger to Asgard and all the 9 realms. As soon as Odin disappears, Helena, their sister attacks both Loki and Thor and as Thor throws his trusted hammer, Mjolnir, at her and Helena holds the hammer in place and destroys it. Loki calls Scourge, who is now the owner the Bifrost Bridge after Heimdall, the original owner, disagrees with Loki’s rule, to open the Bifrost. As both Thor and Loki enter the Bifrost, so does Helena. After a fight, Loki gets knocked out somewhere as well as Thor and we later discover that this was Helena’s plan all along, to get to Asgard, for that is where she is the strongest. She recruits Scourge, played Karl Urban, for the fact that he doesn’t want to die as her enforcer. She seeks to completely and utterly dominant Asgard by asserting her dominance and herself as the new leader of Asgard. That doesn’t set well with the people of Asgard’s as Asgard’s army attacks her. She demolishes everybody and the ones who don’t seek to follow her rule run into the hills as Heimdall seeks to hide them.
Meanwhile, we see that Thor has now become a guest of Planet Sakkar. He is apprehended by Valkyrie and becomes a guest of the Grandmaster played by the legendary actor known for his roles in Jurassic Park and Independence Day and Independence Day: Resurgence, which Chris Hemsworth got to play in, Jeff Goblum. Now, Planet Sakkar has lot of in-depth history in the Marvel Comics. It is the center piece for the stories known as “Planet Hulk,” and “World War Hulk,” its sequel. This comic book duo had to deal with the Hulk being banished by the Illuminati, and his ship was sent off course and landed on Planet Sakkar. Hulk was immediately captured and forced by an entity known as the Warlord to fight in barbaric “Contest of Champions.” Planet Hulk focuses on Hulk’s emergence into hero on Planet Sakkar, while World War Hulk focuses on Hulk taking his revenge on Illumaniti members and finding that there are key members everywhere. These 2 stories as well as the well-known “Contest of Champions,” was added into the mix of adaptation in Thor: Ragnorok. Eventually, Thor is forced to fight Hulk, which the contest rigged, and Thor is thrown in captivity. Thor, Loki, and their accomplice, Valkyrie, scheme to get out of Planet Sakkar and face off against Helena in on Asgard. As Scourge is having 2nd thoughts about helping Helena, all the cavalry come for the final battle against Helena. Thor finally realizes that he shouldn’t stop Ragnorok. To fulfill the prophecy and defeat Helena, he has to let Ragnorok happen. With Asgard destroyed, Heimdall evacuates the people to Valkyrie’s ship that they stole on Planet Sakkar and Loki apprehends a little surprise that factors in later on. With Asgard’s destruction imminent, the Asgardians sent out to the stars and we realize the key lesson of Thor: Ragnorok, Asgard is not just a place; it’s people.
Next, we focus on Black Panther. Black Panther focuses on this character as he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War. We see the grand scale of this vast unknown land as well as the technology that continues to upgrade with its application of the land’s most vital element, Vibranium. As we learn in Captain America: Civil War, King T’Chaka dies and his son, the Black Panter, King T’Challa has to learn what it means to be a warrior and king and the definition of how he will take this role and mantle from his father and make it his own. While this struggle is evident, Black Panther and the nation of Wakanda is faced with threats from their past, some that have been threat since the beginning and threats of their own making. As Black Panther must decide how far he should allow Wakanda be exposed, Ulyssus Klaus comes back into the picture. Black Panther task himself with hunting him down and bringing him to justice; however, things don’t go as plan as they meet an old friend from Captain America: Civil War, C.I.A. agent, Everett K. Ross. In the midst of their interrogation of Klaus, an enemy they didn’t expect apprehends Klaus and then kills him. This man’s name is Killmonger, he is the son of Black Panther’s uncle, and he seeks payback and retribution for a botch operation of wanting to sell Wakanda’s goods to the known public by his Uncle to Klaus. Killmonger saw his father die and now he wants ownership throne, so he can complete his father’s mission to make Wakanda well-known and the leading nation that controls all other nations. Killmonger challenges Black Panther for the throne and Black Panther accepts. They have a tribal challenge and unfortunately, Black Panther loses, but he is saved and he comes to the realization as he talks to his father in a vision quest that all of this was wrong and that his father was wrong and that Killmonger is monster of Wakanda’s making and Black Panther vows to do better.
While in Wakanda, Killmonger is doing everything in his power to fulfill his father’s mission as he seeks to bring Wakanda to the forefront of the weapons trade and to show that he has might he seeks to distribute Wakandian weapons to known associates to begin Wakanda’s conquest of all nations. He takes the Black Panther herb and orders his people to burn the rest; however, Black Panther’s ex-lover, Nakia, steals one and eventually gives it to T’Challa. T’Challa pleads to rival, M’Baku to assemble his tribe to help him take back the throne. They assemble and go to war with the Wakandans and eventually as Killmonger and Black Panther fight, we learn an important lesson between the combatants. Their mentalities. In the midst of their fight, they reach an impasse where T’Challa has an idea to bring the Vibranium train to wreak sound waves on their suits making each other vulnerable to their attacks and they have discourse before they continue fighting. Killmonger says he doesn’t need a suit to kill T’Challa. “Your(T’Challa’s) reign is over. You sat up there, safe and protected.” T’Challa states that Killmonger wants them to become like the people they hate so much, divided. Killmonger retorts, “I’ve learn from my enemies. Beat them at their own game.” T’Challa says, “You have become them. You will destroy everyone, Wakanda included.” And this statement is when you actually feel sorry for him because in a way, he is somewhat right as Killmonger states, “The world took everything away from me. Everything I have ever loved. But I am going to make sure, we are even. I am going to track down anyone who would ever think to be loyal to you and I am going to be (them) right next to Zuri.”
This movie shows that true justice isn’t is clear-cut as it seems. To Killmonger, an injustice was done to him by laws that were imposed upon his father, but those laws and the reactions to them caused repercussions along Killmonger’s life as well as for the people of Wakanda. Their past actions forced them to take a long look at why they do things. To be merciful, after T’Challa stabs Killmonger and nearly kills him, he brings Killmonger to a mountain to overlook the land they both love and to show Killmonger a little taste of home. To be better, T’Challa decides to open an Wakadian embassy and sets his lover over it. He also decides to open the borders of Wakanda, for the 1st time ever. Now, I will say one thing. This movie plays a lot with the themes that are going on now especially with Immigration, Open borders, and injustices. I have thoughts on these things, but I think for the basis of the movie, we should look at how things are being run in our country logistically, logically, factually, but also, with compassion and care. Everybody chooses a side of how this goes about. Some people don’t want to look at the facts and want to be spurred by the emotion of it all and some people want look to hard the facts and have no compassion anything. I will give my thoughts about this issue later on my Facebook profile page, but for now, I think T’Challa looked at in issue in his nation and thought this was the best solution. Over time, maybe in other sequels, we will see how this plays out, but for now, everything seems to be going good, for a time.
With this being said, we now move into the finality and conclusion of this epic Infinity Saga, with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Now, I know Captain Marvel comes in between them. I have seen Captain Marvel yet, so for sake of time, I am not going to be talking about that. I will briefly talk about these 2 movies, for I have already said my peace or piece about them on my Facebook profile page. As this saga comes to an end, we finally meet the perpetrator of this saga, Thanos. As revealed throughout this saga, Thanos has been meticulously manipulating events to discover, find, and collect the dreaded 6 Infinity Stones for some kind of cosmic plan. These Infinity Stones consists of: Space, Time, Reality, Mind, Power, and Soul. Each of these gems have mentioned throughout the known movies such as the Avengers, Dr. Strange, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, and in Infinity War. Throughout the movie, we see him effortlessly get what he wants. He already has the Power Stone by stealing it from Xandar in the events after Guardians of the Galaxy. He invades Thor’s ships and the remnant of the Asgardian people to get the Space Stone and he has no trouble defeat Hulk and destroy a good portion of Thor’s people to do it. He and the Black Order leave the damage ship and the Black Order head to Earth to gain the 2 stones that’s there, The Mind and the Time Stones, while Thanos travels the universe to gain the other stones.
The Black Order easily get the Time Stone as they capture Dr. Strange, but they have trouble getting the Mind Stone from Vision as he has back up from Captain America and the wanted fugitives of the Avengers. Agendas from all the movies are wrapped up in this movie and the next such as within the movie, Captain America states that he is going to fight Thanos and he doesn’t care what Senator Ross from Captain America: Civil War thinks. And they decide to use the nation of Wakanda to make their last stand as Black Panther just recently opened its borders. While this going down, Thanos easily takes the Reality Stone from the Collector, in which Thor and his comptratiants gave the Collector this stone for safe keeping, and then Thanos uses Gamora, his daughter and member of the Guardians of the Galaxy to get the Soul Stone.
There ends up being trouble with the Time Stone as Iron Man and Spider-Man help free Dr. Strange and they decide to make their last stand with Thanos on his home world, Titan. The final battle sequence was amazing. As team Iron Man faces Thanos on Titan, Thano’s minions face team Captain America on Wakanda. This is where the special effects are the heaviest. Thanos uses the Stones so systematically, he almost easily defeats everyone. They have one moment and Starlord lets his emotions get the better of him, which forces Dr. Strange to give up the Time Stone and hopefully win another way. Thanos, with Time Stone, uses the Space to travel to Wakanda and get the final stone, the Mind Stone. He is almost thwarted until he reverses time and gets the final stone. This whole time, Thor has been trying to make another weapon to fight Thanos. He eventually does with the help of Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Named Stormbreaker, he launches the axe at Thanos and it is able to penetrate him. Thor states, “I told you I was going to make you die for that.” All Thanos states is, “You should have went for the head.” And with that, his ultimate goal is at hand. He snaps 50% of the universe’s population out of existence and then leaves. As people vanish, this movie shows the might of Thanos as he nearly defeats the Avengers all on his own. We see that he is a master strategist and he is very cruel in his thinking, for he is been subjected to cruel world and he offers to be the solution; however, he is solution is genocidal. At the end, we see that Nick Fury seeks assistance from Captain Marvel.
We go from her movie to Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Endgame deals with a theme that I brought up about this year. Each year seems to have a certain phrase that follows it. In previous years, phrases like “Game Change,” “Division or Civil War,” but for this year it is “Culmination.” This movie and few other franchises really hit the notion of culmination that gives it a finality. This movie is 75% reflective and 25% action. This movie ends up with how the Avengers deal with the repercussion of the snap. In 45 minutes, they ended up killing Thanos. In 1 hour, they created a solution based on Antman to go back through time. There consequences to these actions, but they end up in a better place for it. The final action sequence really brought all of the story arcs together and was even more grand and monumental as ever as the Avengers face off against the past Thanos as he seeks to once again claim the Infinity Stones. Like before, he tries to use his minions to obtain his objective and when they fail, he steps in with all of his might. He only holds one stone in his hand for this movie, the Power Stone, which brings Thanos back to basics, so it seems and we get to see as an audience how he is mighty without the stones just as he is mighty with the stones. Yet, we end this phase with how it started. Black Widow and Iron Man began this saga; it is only fitting that ended with them. As the Avengers undo the snap, we see some of the repercussions of this from Spider-Man: Far From Home, as the snapped backs come back, but some of them have a 5-year growth year spurt, which confers what Captain America did as he returned the Stones to their times, but yet, changed time when he reconnected with Agent Carter. In essence, this could have created a bleeding and a merging of the timelines, which Mortal Kombat 11 takes wholeheartly.
As Phase 3 ends and Phase 4 begins, we have new things that will end up being down the pike. Facebook put up a list of Marvel Movies that will most likely come out. Some of these movies have been confirmed, others have changed, others have been amended into the phase, while others may be added into unconfirmed Phase 5. Phase 4 confirmations will begin with a Black Widow prequel movie, in which her main villain will be the Taskmaster. Taskmaster has become very popular over the years as he as the ability to mimic other characters move sets. As well as Black Widow, Phase 4 will consist of The Externals starring Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, which she was surprised because she is well-known for the Antonio Banderas flick Desperado, so to have an actress of these 2 women’s caliber is awesome. As well as the Externals, Shang-Chi has been given a title change and will be called Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, which will actually have the main villain be the actual Mandarian from the comics and Iron Man’s main villain. Only one is worthy to have a 4rth sequel and his name is Thor: Love and Thunder. Bring the hammer down! This sequel will bring back Valkryie as well as bring back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will most likely end up being Lady Thor. As well as Thor, Dr. Strange’s sequel has had a title from Dr. Strange: Baron Mordo to Dr. Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness, which is said to be horror movie with the Scarlet Witch coming into the fold. Also, a new Blade will be added into the mix and Marshali Ali will take over the reigns of this character from Wesley Snipes. Finally, for Phase 4, this comic book series I didn’t really see coming as movie, but it is here, “What If?” “What If?” is a comic book series adding many possibilities to certain characters, asking what if Spider-Man ended up this way or what if he did this certain event, so on and so forth. Rumored as Phase 5, there so many possibilities. All we know for now, the rumors are as follows with these movies, we will have an Inhumans movie, as well as Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, another Fantastic 4 reboot, Silver Surfer, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Power Pack, Nova Corp, Spider-Man 3, X-Men will be brought in the Marvel Cinematic fold eventually, as well as a 5th Avengers, so basically, the possibility are endless.
Within this Phase 4, Disney now has a new service like Netflix called Disney+. This streaming service will end up fusing all of Disney’s brand in one spot including movies and shows from Disney’s archives, their movies, their own channel as well as from services they have acquired over the years such as Pixar, Marvel, Lucasarts (Star Wars), National Geographic, and their recently acquired asset 20th Century Fox as well as Marvel’s Netflix shows Iron Fist, the Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Defenders. Yet, Disney will be adding certain key Marvel Cinematic series from this universe such as Hawkeye, Loki, Falcon and the Winter Solder, Wanda and Vision, as well as documentary series of Marvel itself, and also a “What If?” animated series. Just recently, because of Disney’s recent acquiring of 20th Century Fox, they will also add 4 key movie franchises as reboots like Home Alone, Night of the Museum, Cheaper By The Dozen, and Diary of A Wimpy Kid.
Speaking of Lucasarts, Disney bought out LucasArts (Star Wars) in 2011. With this, they set to plan out for 3 movies that were to follow events of the Star Wars books after the Empire fell. They brought aboard Lost’s J.J. Abrams to take on this project. He actually differed and diverted a little bit from the books and created his sense of nostalgia between the original 3 movies and the upcoming ones. I somewhat like the 7th, but I haven’t watch the 8th. I didn’t like the main villain of the 7th, Kylo Ren. I think he was just an angry teenager, who had lot of temper tantrums. They tried model him as Darth Vader and it just didn’t work, for me. I think the fans wanted to see the books come to life and they somewhat did, but they were reimagined and I just didn’t care for it and I think it kind of gave people a divide of whether care for it or not. I will say that since Disney took Star Wars and Marvel over they have really marketed both companies in their Christmas parade that is on ABC every year. I do like the fact that they have incorporate both franchises into their family and it has really been a spotlight for seeing these characters at the forefront of their company.
Even though, I am not a big fan of how Star Wars changed, Disney itself is best when it focuses on its one key element, imagination. It is cool that we get to see all of these characters get their own space, but yet, they are strong enough to carry the weight of the company. Yet, throughout Disney’s tenure and their various buyouts, they have accumulated and created such a world of animation and original content that also has also become a big part of their company. They start with their own animated series such as Ducktales, which launched a spin-off called Darkwing Duck. Let’s start with Ducktales, which ran from 1987-1990 with 100 episodes. Ducktales is rich and steeped in the history of the original Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, but more preferably steeps into the history of Donald Duck. The preference of the series is that Donald Duck decides to join the Navy, so he seeks his Uncle Scrooge’s help to raise his nephews Huey, Duey, and Louie. Scrooge Mcduck seems reluctant at first to take on the role of caretaker. Scrooge is immensely into obtaining, securing, collecting, and fortifying his own wealth as he seeks to keep a strong business ethic. He has a room full of all his assorted items and a vault that houses gold coins, in which, he seeks to bathe in. Scrooge dislikes the nephews’ hyperactivity and feels like their presence is an inconvenience to his lifestyle; however, over a time, he learns and comes to respect their ingenuity and creativity.
Throughout out this show, the nephews and Scrooge go through Ducktales together. Eventually, Scrooge hires a nanny named Mrs. Beakley, who we learn has an assorted past, as well we meet her granddaughter, Webby. Throughout these adventures, we are introduced to certain villians such as the Beagle Boys, who seek to rob Scrooge’s fortunes; Gyro Gearloose, a character in the Ducktales comic book; and appearances by their close friend, Launchpad Mcquack, who ends up becoming their pilot. This series has recently been rebooted as Disney XD series and is going strong in its 2nd season. The 1st series ended with a movie called Ducktales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, which ended up in syndication on Disney Channel as one of their well-known favorite movies. This series opened up whole bunch of spin-offs and series following such as: Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, the Goof Troop, Bonkers, Quack Pack, Aladdin, Timon and Pumba, Jungle Cubs, Talespin, and Darkwing Duck.
I want focus on 2 of these spin-offs and briefly comment on the Aladdin series. Talespin is basically a fusion of Ducktales and the Jungle Book, where key characters from the Jungle Book are in and we see how this world becomes more within the realm of this new generation. Yet, when it comes to Disney’s Animated Series, most people from the 90s remember Darkwing Duck. Darkwing Duck was series that went for 2 seasons from 1991-1992 and was the fusion of Batman and Ducktales, which is funny that came out about the same time that Batman: The Animated Series came out. Darkwing Duck was a spin-off series of Ducktales, yet despite Launchpad Mcquack being the sidekick of Darkwing Duck, this series exist within the world of Ducktales, but has its own universe within it. Basically, it is separate, but equal. Scrooge is mentioned in one of the episodes as well as one of the well-known characters of Ducktales, Gizomoduck, being in an episode. Basically, this series was parody of all the other heroes clothed in darkness, yet seeking to do heroic deeds such as Batman, Zorro, The Green Hornet, The Shadow, etc. Darkwing Duck and Ducktales were 2 of the most well-known animation shows of Disney. Disney had a few other great animated shows like Gargoyles, based upon the movie of nocturnal creature, who came out by night and was stone by day, which starred Keith David (well-known voice actor who now plays Arbiter on Halo) as Goliath, leader of the Gargoyles, Ed Asner, Kate Mulgrew, and well-known appearances as the villains by Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Jonathan Franks as philanthropist David Xanatos and Marina Siritis Esmeralda, Goliath’s lost love turned villainess. Disney’s other 2 movies turned series Timon and Pumba and Alladin did somewhat well for the network. Aladdin did a little better than Timon and Pumba, for the fact that it had its own original story and had a villain that was original concept for the series and really propelled interest in the series. With a lot of actors and voice actors from well-known franchises it lasted for about 1 year.
With Disney’s purchase of Marvel, Disney has a lot of Marvel animated shows that did well in the 90s such as X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic 4, Silver Surfer, The Avengers from Fox as well as Disney’s own 2 Avenger series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as well as Avengers: Assemble. Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes focused on the Comic Book side of the Avengers. Season 1 of Avengers focused on the consequences of villains being released from a Vault that S.H.I.E.L.D. kept prisoners in by a villain known as Gravitron. The Avengers assemble to stop and thwart the villians. Throughout Season 1, we are introduced to the team of the Avengers through beginning adventures such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Antman and Wasp, Black Panther, and Hawkeye. We learn at the end of Season 1, the Breakout was all Loki’s idea to free Enchantress and Scourge.
In season 2, the Avengers seek to track down and defeat the last remnants of the Masters of Evil, while dealing with new threats from the comics. A surprise at the end of Season 1 is that Captain America was replaced by Skrull, a race of shape-changing villains. The 1st half of the season deals with the Skrull Invasion and the 2nd half has to do with the Kree. Throughout this season, we are introduced to Maria Hill as the series seeks to introduced the audience to the well-known, controversial storyline called “Civil War.” This series barely hinted at it, but this event is about how far the government should have influence in our life; also, how far should superheroes be able to pursue their heroic efforts and should their heroic efforts be guided by the government hands. Maria Hill is the main prospector of this ideology. In Captain: Civil War it is General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. This ideology shifted Captain America and Iron Man on opposite sides, where Iron Man was pro-government and felt like the superheroes needed restrictions placed upon them, and Captain America was anti-government and believed that every person has freedom to choose and be better than what is defined to them. Also, during this season, a subplot of Thor’s became more in view as Surutur sought to use the Enchantress to free him and cause Ragnorok to happen. As well as this, we ended this series by adding the notion of the New Avengers. Later on, in the late 2000s, we started to introduce new faces in the Avengers from other well-known Marvel comics such as Spider-Man, Wolverine from the X-Men, Scott Lang (the 2nd Antman), as well that we introduced the Winter Soldier and the Red Hulk throughout this series. This series catapulted some new, well-known voice actors to the mix such as: Brian Bloom as Captain America, Chris Cox as Hawkeye and Crimson Dynamo, Jennifer Hale as Ms. Marvel, Peter Jessop as Vision, Phil Lamaar as Jarvis and Wonder Man, Eric Loomis as Iron Man, James C. Mathis III as Black Panther, Colleen O’ Shanugessy as Wasp, Fred Tatasciore as the Hulk, and Rick D. Wasserman as Thor. We will talk about this series more in-depth later.
As I have also stated the 2nd series, Avengers Assemble focused more on the Marvel Cinematic Universe than the comics. The first season focuses on Red Skull trying to improve his health and livelihood as he is suffering some repercussions due to his deformed, Super Solider serum. He decides to go to M.O.D.O.K., leader of A.I.M. (Advance Idea Mechanics) Red Skull seeks M.O.D.O.K’s help because he wants to transfer his consciousness into Captain America. After his defeat at the hands of the newly reassembled Avengers, he steals Iron Man’s armor, so he can preserve himself and he leaves Tony for dead. The Avengers get Tony a new Iron Man armor as Red Skull attacks the mansion. Red Skull is again defeated. The Avengers mansion is destroyed during the fight. Red Skull seeks to make the Avengers enemy number #1 by ruining their reputation of failing to save the people. To even the playing field, Red Skull gathers together a band of villains known as the Cabal. Red Skull sends out invitations to Attuma the Hun, Dracula, and Dr. Doom. Attuma and Dracula accept the invitation; Dr. Doom declines. The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. combine their forces to take on the Cabal. Later on, the Cabal adds new members like Justin Hammer’s super-adaptoid and Hyperion.
In Season 2 of Avengers Assemble, we have a role reversal to the movies just like Marvel V.S. Capcom: Infinite did. In this series, they reversed the order of importance that the movies had. The movies dealt with Ultron in Phase 2 and Thanos in Phase 3. Yet, this series took Thanos in Season 2 and Ultron in Season 3. Red Skull gives the Tesseract to Thanos at the end of Season 1, as Thanos is in search of the Infinity Stones. In the middle of the season, they are able to defeat Thanos, as Ultron drains the power of the Infinity Stones for himself. Also, in season 2, Antman joins the team. As well in Season 2, we meet Hyperion’s old crew, the Squadron Supreme, a well-known anti-Avengers heroes group with its members, Nighthawk, Poster Princess, Doctor Spectrum, and Speed Demon. Hyperion is seen as the muscle of the group, while Nighthawk is seen as the “Architect,” the man with the plan. They come from another planet that blew up, so now they seek to become the new heroes of Earth. Eventually, they are locked up in the Vault. At the end of Season 2, Thanos escapes from his confinement and takes his minions and worshippers known as the Black Order to earth to end the Avengers. Yet, the Avengers defeat him again and vow to expand the Avengers with new members.
In Season 3, dubbed “The Ultron Revolution,” Ultron is really at the forefront of this season and is shown that he is greater threat than Thanos. The Avengers are forced to cancel their plans for expansion due to Ultron’s return. As Ultron’s 1st action, he evolves Justin Hammer’s Super-Adaptoid to his Ultron form. Ultron seeks revenge against the Avengers for foiling his plans with the Infinity Stones as well as being a constant threat to his plans of cybernetic domination and replacement of humanity with all things Ultron. As subplot, Ultron seeks to eliminate humanity by provoking the Inhumans to attack the Avengers. Another plot has to deal with Helmut Zemo, Baron Zemo’s son, who plots to destroy Captain America, by stealing and taking the Super Soldier formula and recruiting the Masters of Evil and steals a device that causes these supervillains to change into superheroes known as the Thunderbolts. Also, the Avengers take on Kang the Conquer during this season. Kang the Conquer comes such a threat throughout time that the present and future Avengers must take him on to win. After this goes down, the Avengers are sent a government liaison to play checks and balances with their activities, as the president signs The New Powers Act. This liaison, Truman Marsh, suspends the Hulk and places Red Hulk voiced by Clancy Brown (Lex Luther from Superman: The Animated Series) in his place. Truman Marsh assembles a new Avengers team consisting of Red Hulk, Black Panther, Songbird, Antman, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Vision known as the Mighty Avengers to tackle the threat posed by the Inhumans. Ultron uses this battle to control Ms. Marvel by posing as Truman Marsh as he starts the Ultron Revolution to purge humanity from existence.
In Season 4, dubbed “The Secret Wars,” we are still reeling from the Ultron Revolution, as Tony was placed in another dimension by Dr. Strange because Tony was also mind-controlled by Ultron as well as the Inhumans. A new version of the Cabal is formed with its member being Leader, Arnim Zola, the Enchantress, the Executioner, and Kang The Conqueror. Black Panther forms the New Avengers to combat this threat. They defeat the Leader, but later on, it is revealed the Leader isn’t actually the leader of this new cabal. So under the advice of Captain America, the New Avengers stay on the case until they can be found home. The Avengers have been transported to world by the Beyonder to test their skills and sense of character in Mortal Combat. In season 5, the entire season is based off of the Black Panther movie. This series introduces a lot of well-known actors and voice actors such as Haley Atwell reprising her role as Agent Peggy Carter, Rene Auberjonis as Ebony Maw (one of the members of the Black Order), Diedrick Bader as Maximus (the Inhuman brother of Black Bolt), Drake Bell as Spider-Man, Brian Bloom as Hyperion, Steve Blum as Kang the Conqueror (We will talk about the Bloom brothers much later), Kimberly Brooks as Shuri (known for her roles in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker),Corey Burton as Dracula(Brainiac from Superman: The Animated Series), Chris Cox as Star-Lord, John DiMaggio as Galactus, Robin Atkins Down as Baron Strucker, Will Friedle as Star-Lord in another episode, Chi McBride as Nick Fury, J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Steven Weber as the Beyonder, Laura Bailey as Black Widow; Troy Baker as Hawkeye, Loki, Whiplash and Kraven the Hunter; Adrian Pasdar as Iron Man in Season 1-3 known for his roles in Heroes and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Roger Craig Smith as Captain America(was also able to play this role in Marvel V.S. Capcom 3 and Marvel V.S. Capcom: Infinite); Travis Willingham as Thor(just like Captain America was able to reprise his role in the games mentioned), etc. I have talked about some of these voice actors, but I will talk about some more of them at a later date. Both of these series were amazing in their casting and stories for the Avengers from comics to movie; however, they had few mishaps with the direction of the story, but other than that great series.
As Disney continued in its direction of animation, they also incorporated original series into their repertoire. They really became known for their top 3 original series: So Weird, The Famous Jett Jackson, and the Jersey. So Weird was about a family with a musician, Molly Philips, who toured around the globe while her daughter dealt with paranormal forces. The Famous Jett Jackson had to deal with a superstar actor, Jett, played the late, great Lee Thompson Young, who continue his profession of acting while go back to his hometown, Wilstead, North Carolina. The Jersey dealt with bunch of sports fans who inherit this magic jersey, which jumps them into their favorite players to help them learn lessons about themselves. Over the years, Disney Channel has continued on their original series with shows like Even Stevens, Lizzie Maguire, That’s So Raven (which continue with a spin-off called, Raven’s House), Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Jessie(which had a spin-off series called Bunked), K.C. Undercover(somewhat had the same premise as Jett Jackson, yet K.C. was a spy like Jett Jackson’s Silverstone was a spy, yet she was female and a real life spy), Stuck In the Middle, Andy Mack, etc. As well as their original series, they have so many original movies it is hard to count.
In conclusion, Disney has been a thriving organization that has continue to focus on the wonders and imaginations of children, but also to remind adults that imagination is in all of us. Through their various enterprises, they show that imagination is everywhere from their rides, the food, to the worlds they seek to show, there is a whole world out there and it is wondrous. Often times, we see the heartbreak that life can gives us through the evil within it, Walt Disney had an eye on keeping people pure and innocent through the goodness that life can offer. I would like to work for this company in its animation regards. Even though, there are somethings that I and others might disagree with about how the company is represented itself today, it still seeks to be in some parts a hub for the great wonders that life can bring. That is the message I hope they continue. This company seeks to inspire and instill values deep-seated in a child. Like every other parent, I and others I know, want to see their child instilled with good, wholesome values of purity, represented in innocent, not in always knowing the world in which live, but have complete sense of wonder in the good of it. According to some, Disney maybe straying away from their wholesome value, but I hope they remain in their mission to capture people in wonder of good, whether it be in the animation of Pixar, innocent nostalgia of Disney’s upbringing, in animation with shows such as the Marvel brand with the excitement of action or with their Star Wars brand like Star Wars: Rebels and thrill of travel, or with their original series and movies, which they instill true, hearted messages of love, forgiveness, and understanding. Let that be said of all us. Next, we will look into my next Commercial on the Commercial Demo, Samaritan’s Purse, and what I hope to be my mission in life with this venture. Until then, good day!
