Updated Avenues of Honour lists out
Did you realise, Australian has more avenues of trees commemorating losses and service in wars than any other nation on earth? We do. Hundreds and hundreds - for World War 1. Almost 100 for WW2, and others.
Just after another ANZAC Day is commemorated, I've updated the various lists of Avenues of Honour (World War 1 and the Boer War), Memorial Avenues (WW2), other war memorial avenues, groves and plantings, Lone Pines, Gallipoli oaks and the like, all around Australia and increasingly we are finding more in New Zealand (apt, given close ANZAC service, losses in war and links). Check these out, uploaded at https://www.researchgate.net/project/War-Memorial-and-Honour-Avenues-of-trees-around-Australia . And at www.gardenhistorysociety.org.au under 'Advocacy'.

4 年As you are updating listings Stuart I hope those planted in 1915 and 16 before Eurack are given some credit.

4 年Worth remembering that Boer was a pejorative term. In South Africa they are called the South African Wars
