An update on #sustainable masks
Great news, this week (3rd week in Feb 21) we've had 25 enquiries from NHS Trust procurement teams about our sustainable mask especially designed for and by NHS healthcare workers. and a date to talk with HM/NHS Central Procurement team to see if we can expedite their self-denying order not to buy re-usable, sustainable masks till May/June.
Our argument will be simple, yes, you have millions of planet maiming throw away FP2 masks in storage - we know that - but can't you do the planet a favour and keep them locked away so your prepared for the next time?
Here is a quick re-cap on the background (posted last week on my feed) ...
We set ourselves the challenge to do something to stop the eco-damage of one-use PPE in the NHS. Not just moan about it - but get stuck in and help develop and provide sustainable medical masks to the World. Starting with the #nhsuk
This 11 month journey has seen us: find the best commercial manufacturers of these masks in the world. Persuade them to take part in the NHS sustainability trials. Encourage them to take on board the feedback from #nhsworkers and invest real money altering the product. Battle the EU to get recognised for a CE mark - hours before Brexit proving beyond doubt we do what it says on the tin.
And thanks to the fantastic clinical and procurement teams at the Royal Cornwall Hospital our Masks are now available to thousands of their staff off the shelf #GreenerNHS #RCHFT
The last hurdle is a fair playing field as our competition the planet killing throw-away plastic filled mask is still available (until May) for free to NHS staff.
It's difficult to compete with a sustainable alternative to throw away in a market like this and the shame is the lifetime costs of both products is about even if not slightly in our favour.
#WiseProtec thanks for the support and investment - the NHS will get there eventually!
