Update in the Streaming Platform Pricing World ??

Recently, I wrote about the importance of prioritizing high-quality content when implementing subscription pricing—you can read that here.

Now, NBC's new Peacock streaming platform has offered an interesting example of pricing strategy. They have featured their hit show "The Office" as the cornerstone of their pricing structure, offering seasons 1 & 2 for free.

Then, if you want to access later seasons of the show, you need to subscribe and pay $9.99/month. By providing increasing levels of access to one of their top shows with each subscription tier, Peacock is taking a unique approach to subscription pricing and portfolio management. NBC is relying heavily on its shining star to provide value—it will be interesting to see how this works out in the long run!
