Weekly Update
1) We have 31 companies added to the website with over 2100 (!!) job listings
2) We have implemented a user authentication system so users of the site can create accounts.?
3) Authenticated users can now upload their resumes to the website.
4) We have made significant progress where verified employers can view the resumes that users have uploaded.
5) Based on cost, we are leaning towards REITJobs.net instead of REITJobs.com for website domain but we haven’t taken down any sites yet (pending sponsorship from the industry)

Do you ever think about what you want your legacy to be or how people think about you when you’re no longer around?
What does Anthony Bourdain (the famous chef/TV personality) have to do with me and the REIT industry?
Take a step back in time and let me tell you a personal story about June 8th, 2018 as it is one of the most important days in my life.? On June 8th, Anthony Bourdain passed away and that moment changed my life forever.? At the time, I was a sellside trader working on an ETF specialist/execution desk and was in a very dark place in my life.? I was going down a dark road to the point that there was a chance I wouldn’t be here to share this letter with you today.
It was also the same day that I had an awakening that life is too short and that good things can be taken away in a snap.? At that moment, the clouds parted and I had the epiphany that I wanted to do more and enjoy life more.? From that point forward, my life did a 180 turn where I left my position a few months later, found myself and my new passion of trying to help the future generations of REIT leaders.
As I started thinking about these things, I took a step back to think about the various leaders, mentors, colleagues, and advisors that have helped me get to where I am today.? Then I started asking about who was going to help those future REIT leaders 20 years or more down the road get the opportunities that we have been given.
It is through this awakening process that has led to the birth of REITJobs.com.
Let’s say we have over 150 publicly-traded REITs listed here in the United States.? That means there are over 150 company websites with 150 career pages.? Across those 150 websites, there could be thousands of job opportunities within our industry.?
What avenues are in place to bring all of those jobs into one location?? NONE!
Did you know that many of these jobs don’t show up on job sites such as Indeed.com or LinkedIn?? Did you know that many of the job posts on those websites have been filled and are “stale” as they have been listed for months?
What if we could bring a website that scrapes all of the career pages on a daily or weekly basis with a 3-month old cap so that all jobs would be current?? What if we also created a database for candidates to drop their resumes so REITs could search the database to find their next generation of leaders?
?The 2-Way Street
Not only can candidates directly apply to the open positions, but we are also creating a database to store candidate resumes for REITs to access.? Let’s say a company has a position that they haven’t posted yet in Denver, CO.? The company can access the REITJobs database to see potential candidates in the area that are qualified and reach out to them for interviews.

To grow this initiative, I plan on reaching out to major universities across the country hoping to speak to the Real Estate Deans/Professors and Career Centers highlighting the website and showing the opportunities within the industry.? Colleges can use REITJobs as a resource for many years to come.??
One complaint that I have heard is that companies can’t find “qualified” or “local” candidates and are outsourcing these positions out of the country.? How about we change that?
Whether companies sponsor and/or partner with us or not, I want all REITs to have access to potentially thousands of candidates across the country looking for these opportunities.?
Sponsorship
I’d like to note that we will promote the sponsors job posts at the top of the page as seen in the sample screenshots in the attached that work its way down from medallion, platinum, gold, silver, bronze, partner and industry levels (think NAREIT sponsorship tiers at the various conferences) along with creating a sponsorship tab on the website to highlight the companies that are involved in this initiative (along with hoping you would promote the cause as well).? In addition, I am open to so many other ideas of ways to thank the sponsors for helping us grow this website.
I am building this for the REIT industry by the REIT industry.? Let’s do good by doing good together!
Please note that my name will not be appearing on this website.? I’m not making this about me or promoting myself in this initiative.? I don’t get paid for clicks, I don’t get paid by the companies for putting their jobs posts out there or candidates applying. I don’t get paid by candidates for dropping their resumes into the database.? I don’t get paid by the companies accessing the candidates database.
I am using this to build a foundation so that if we can raise $100K, $500K, $1 million or more, then we can keep this going for so many years down the road after we are all gone and know that our industry is safe in the hands of future generations of REIT leaders as we have provided them the opportunity to seek out all the great opportunities in our sector.
The more we raise then the louder we can use our microphone and pedestal to highlight the opportunities in our sector for years to come.
My goal is to get EVERY single company involved in this initiative as this is for the entire industry.
Should this take off, then we can expand it to the Buyside, Sellside, C-Suite, REOC, C-Corps and other companies.
Use of Sponsor Proceeds
Proceeds to be used to: 1) Secure the REITJobs.com domain (or something similar) depending on cost 2) Pay for an intern (or future interns/professionals) to handle the coding and scrape of REIT company websites and career pages plus pays for website listing and maintenance fees.? 3) Other fees may be involved on a TBD basis (such as website domain name).
In Conclusion
I want to leave this as my legacy to the REIT industry.? I want to make it so that this website lives into perpetuity with the resources necessary to keep the opportunities current.? I’m thinking about the person that hasn’t been born yet or in elementary school today who will be looking for a position many years down the road.?? The attached document shows sample screenshots along with a demo website that we have created.? If you'd like to chat more about the website, screenshots, sponsorship opportunities or payment options,?please let me know and we can discuss.??
Help me help you find your next generations of leaders.
Thank you!
