An Update on Recent Events

This is a heart-wrenching time for all of us. As events continue to unfold, I wanted to share a message I recently sent to my team. 

Team, 

Given the significant events that have occurred across the country, I wanted to reach out to you, my Saks family, to share my thoughts. 

This is a painful time and I am heartbroken about all that has happened. I take comfort in knowing that our team is united in the belief that all people deserve to be treated equally, fairly and respectfully. Racism and bigotry should not be tolerated. Yet, the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and so many others, demonstrate that there is much more to be done to overcome the racial divide still impacting our society. 

I am proud to live in a country where we have the right to peaceful assembly and free speech. Unfortunately, the activities over the last few days have caused injury to people and damage to property. While some store locations have been impacted, our team members are safe and unharmed. 

Our associates are our family, and we continue to put your collective well-being first. The stores can be fixed, but these events will have a lasting effect on the hearts and minds of people across the country. We all have a part to play with our teams, customers and communities to do what is right and contribute to a world that is open, fair and just. 

Throughout the pandemic, I have been truly impressed by the dedication and resilience of our team. I know that we will continue to stand together to help one another and our communities through this time. Please stay safe and thank you for your commitment to Saks.
