An Update on the Past Few Weeks

Most of my time towards the end of April and the beginning of May was spent on travelling to yacht shows and experiencing the yachts first hand in preparation for the summer 2018 charter season. It has been an equally incredible and intense few weeks.
Going into May, it’s full speed ahead as we enter peak booking season. There are thousands of yachts available for charter this year, and having inspected the market first hand, I am in a unique position to offer transparent advice when recommending both yachts and itineraries to my clients.
Sicily Familiarisation Trip
Flying into Catania on the East coast of Sicily, I stayed on board motor yacht ENJOY and fully experienced the unique charm of Sicilian culture. Steeped in a turbulent history due to its geographical location, Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean, and is surprisingly an untouched yacht charter destination. We travelled North to Taormina and South to Syracuse, climbed Mount Etna and sampled abundant amounts of the most delicious food I have ever tasted (no lie!).
Barcelona MYBA Yacht Show
Next it was off to Barcelona for the MYBA Charter Show where +50 of the world’s most luxurious charter yachts were on display. The week was jam packed with yacht viewings, crew competitions, seminars and parties, and all were incredibly valuable. The MYBA show offers yachts the chance to showcase what they’re made of in preparation for the summer season, and there were of course several that stood out as having gone above and beyond.
Palma Super Yacht Show
I grew up in Palma and my parents still live on the island, and therefore attending the Palma Yacht Show was an absolute must. The Balearics are my stomping ground and are undoubtedly one of my favourite places to book and plan charters with clients. I spent five days at the show, getting to know our Camper & Nicholsons Palma team and inspecting the incredible selection of sailing yachts on display.
Amalfi Coast Familiarisation Trip
The final stop was the Amalfi coast, where I attended the SudExtravaganza; a new yacht show organised by local operators in an attempt to highlight the very best that the Italian coastline has to offer. There were eight yachts on display, all run by Italian crew. Chartering a yacht in this region offers clients an authentic Italian experience, that needs to be experienced to be appreciated.
Returning to London this week has given me the chance to reflect on what has been a whirlwind of experiences. Right now is peak booking season, and availability is currently changing on a daily basis. If you are considering a yacht charter this summer, I would be delighted to hear from you to discuss and brainstorm some initial plans.
