Update on NT General Skilled Migration (GSM) Nomination Applications for 2024-25

Migration NT continues to process onshore applications for nomination under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program. Please note that offshore applications are currently on hold. However, existing offshore applications will still be assessed. We aim to resume offshore applications with updated guidelines by 12 August 2024. Before submitting a nomination application, ensure that you have reviewed the eligibility criteria and submitted an expression of interest through the Department of Home Affairs’ SkillSelect system.

Applications are assessed in the order they are received, and we cannot guarantee nominations before visa expiry dates. If your visa is nearing expiration, seek professional advice on your visa options to ensure you remain lawful in Australia.

General Skilled Migration Visas

These visas cater to young, skilled individuals with strong English proficiency. The visa subclasses under this category include:

• Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa
• Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa
• Skilled - Independent (Permanent) (subclass 189) visa

The subclasses 491 and 190 visas require a nomination from an Australian state or territory government, such as the Northern Territory Government.
