What I am reading:
Our plan for a better future for all Australians – Labor’s policies?outlines the Albanese government’s election promises and what we can expect them to implement now that they are in office.?Fee Free TAFE?seeks to address skills shortages by funding training for industries recovering from the pandemic. An investment in accredited micro-credential training has also been touted. Interestingly, they have promised to provide 70 per cent of Commonwealth funding for VET to TAFEs. Jobs and Skills Australia will be established to drive VET education and strengthen workforce planning.
What I am listening to:
The latest episode of Claire Field’s podcast is?Catherine Ng (CIT Solutions) and Steve Petit (AIF) – the big picture changes happening in VET. Claire discusses with Catherine the General Manager of CIT's commercial arm, and Steve the CEO of AIF how they steer their organisations through the profound changes that the VET sector is responding to in terms of the changes in the industries they train for, the changing demands from their learners, increased digitisation and more. Steve discusses his experience from a recent self-assurance audit and how the ASQA audit process has positively changed. He suggests that RTOs seek input from external advisors on self-assurance systems for an independent perspective.
