Update on LSB SRA review into Axiom Ince
One day short of six weeks after the Legal Services Board announced it was delaying public publication of the report into the SRA's handling of matters relating to Axiom Ince due to the General Election (some may think rather oddly), and a mere 2 hours after my enquiry as to progress, now that the General Election has been and gone, the LSB has published an update, saying they have the report and it will be published 'as soon as due process has been completed'.
It is disappointing that the near six weeks which have passed did not enable due process to be completed.
The lapse of time has facilitated the closing of the period for responses to the SRA's Consumer Protection Review Discussion Paper. Those responses would have been far better informed had the facts been published first. Meanwhile the SRA has announced a substantial increase in contributions to the Compensation Fund, necessitated by the failure to stop the defalcations sooner.
By section 3 of the Legal Services Act 2007 the Board is required to act in a way which its regulatory activities are transparent and accountable.
We expect nothing less.
